Description
No, not that kind of dump, dirty mind.A collection of quick demon-related sketches from the past... *checks when the pandemic started* Oh, 2 years. Wow, what progress.
Okay, but in seriousness, I work more with words than with drawings, much as I enjoy both. I trust the quality of my writing more than the quality of my art. Anyway, onto the info about some of the demons in my story, The Fated.
1) A collection of 'natural' demon types that exist in my main story. Forgive the minotaurs, I still struggle with human-like proportions and body plans.
Imps are your classic catch-all demon - small, red, horned and with pointed tails. I imagine them somewhat monkey/cat-like in my story. They're the weakest of almost all demon types, but they're overwhelming in large numbers and are easy to summon/control.
Minotaurs come in two sizes, the small and the large (I have no other fancy names for them, but maybe one day). The bigger ones are more aggressive, harder to control, and more difficult to summon compared to their smaller counterparts.
Oh god, can I read my own writing... Schiegemon, I think. Rodent-like bird things with lop-sided wings - one is comically larger than the other. Basically the imps of the sky.
Timaven are basically demon pterodactyls, their bodies as large as a person. I don't have much else about them, they haven't had any heavy focus in the story.
Horribara, if I recall correctly, is two words from a different language mashed together, but I do remember the words were "horrible spider", because that's exactly what it is. A horrible, roach-like spider thing.
2) Second part of the collection. I meant to do more, but never got around to it. The 'unnatural' demons are more interesting anyway.
Grim are wolf-like animals with rough fur, almost like they have mange, with their skin and flesh peeling away from their jaws. No, I don't know what's going on with its toe.
Chimera, something I think most of us know and recognize. It's basically just a big animal, except with the aggressive suffering-seeking nature of a demon.
Wyrms are just dragon-like, legless lizards. They probably have some kind of venom, now that I'm thinking about it.
Rat Kings are three-headed, three-tailed rats well above average in size, probably somewhere between a large dog and a horse. Also haven't shown up in the story, so I haven't thought too deeply about them.
3) So, there is a specific classification of demons referred to as the "Sons of Vermiculo", which is a title rather than a statement of gender or relation. This is a quick visual lineup of the Sons, just so I could get an idea of their size differences (probably alarmingly inaccurately, but close enough). 5, 2, and maybe 10, are in need of design alterations/updates, but the general idea is accurate. Maybe one day I'll make them ref sheets.
4) The Sixth Son, also known as Sextus or Venin. He's sometimes called Leech, but I recommend you don't do that - he's a bit sensitive. He's a normally slow-moving mass that uses Illusion magic to hide himself, before striking out with his mouth of teeth and tentacles to swallow things (including people) whole. He is capable of sudden bursts of speed, but he can't control his direction when he does this, and he will tire himself out if he does it too much.
5) Hmmm... how much to say... I doubt anyone's going to be seeing this, or caring (besides my friends), but I'll be vague. This is a demon killer, or more specifically... a hunter of Sons. It uses the backwards-facing barbs at the end of its tail to whip at prey and latch into their skin, venom then able to pump from the barbs and into flesh. Their body appears as though it's made of a thick goop, and all of the flesh (if it has any) has left its face, revealing an eyeless skull that can still very much see you.
6) The Seventh Son of Vermiculo, also known as Vermis, Cirmuldente (if I recall correctly, that's something along the lines of "cirlce teeth"), or Septimus. As I said, the title of 'Son' has nothing to do with gender, and Septimus is actually female, with she/her pronouns. Not that she'll care if you misgender her - she has more important things to care about. Septimus' casual form almost looks like a lamprey eel with its mouth facing forward instead of down, or like those worm things from Dune, and within her mouth is a seemingly endless tunnel of teeth. When she wants, however - whether for snappier combat or just to scare the absolute life out of people - she can slowly peel back her 'teeth', reveal her real face, and then elongate back out again. And now her teeth are basically a mantle of hard thorns.
7) My admittedly favourite demon boy, Valmos, the Ninth Son of Vermiculo. For reasons unknown (though he'd argue its a mix of energy conservation and an attempt to trick others into thinking he's weak and simple), he sticks to a very basic lizard-like appearance. Not seen here because everything's in pencil sketches, but his left eye is always a bright, pale blue.
8) As implied above, Valmos has many appearances. At first the large limbs were an error on my part that I was too lazy to erase and fix, but then I decided I kind of like it. He's a demon, he doesn't need to be pretty and uniform. This form is another 'hunter of Sons' kind of thing, with a venomous scorpion-like barb at the end of his muscular tail.
9) Another Valmos form, this one I envision to be less physically-capable, and more intellectually and mentally adept. He can command entire armies of demons this way. The cost of doing so, however, means he puts so much focus into controlling his underlings that he can't do much of the 'moving around'. He has to choose between controlling his own body, or controlling the masses, which can leave him vulnerable. This is why he has so many eyes - it's hard to sneak up on something that can see you coming from almost all angles.
And that's my first deviation submission... Fighting my anxiety and getting it all out there
