Kena stared into the mirror. Her reflection was different than it used to be. She used to be small and grey and meek, during one time chubby. She was no longer small, her body was tall, lean and muscular. She was towering in a mass of muscles and thus not exactly the beautiful princess she always wanted to be. She was also still grey, different shades from light grey to pitch black. The only color on her were her blood red eyes shimmering like rubies. She stared into her own eyes, her pupils only slits. She was fully grown now. It was clear she had some strong webbing genes, it was high likely there was a Finn in her lineage. One could probably say her features were beautiful. Well, if it wasn't for her teeth. Her teeth! She had been very, VERY late for teeth. Most Wyngrew grew their first teeth as Wynglings but she had been toothless even when she reached her full height. And then, as if they wanted to taunt her, they grew all at the same time - but in the wrong place. Instead of inside her mouth they grew on the outside, making her look like she bared her teeth all the time. That in addition to the scars on her shoulder, the sharp, curved horns and the... sickly black marks on her sides, reminder of the hellish curse brought by the giant Deelagun... made her look intimidating. No matter what she tried, she couldn't hide the deadly sharp teeth and her once so soft smile was barely visible. She took a silver tiara and looked at it's beautiful gem, then she placed it on her forehead. It didn't hide her teeth, but it lessened the intimidation she radiated at least a bit. Next she took a long silky cape in the color of her hair and put it on her shoulders. She looked... acceptable. Maybe even... nice. She tried a small smile.

Later that day she was standing in the shadows of the trees, only her antennae gave off a faint light. She looked on the little box in her paw, it looked almost tiny compared to the size of her front limbs. It didn't look like much, but it was important. Probably. She took a deep breath. She was no longer a child. She had learned a lot at the dojo, especially about her feelings and how to deal with them in a healthy way. And how her friendship with Wish had ended... wasn't healthy. She had been angry and ashamed and hurt. Things between her and Wish weren't better now and they wouldn't become perfect just like that, but it was time for the first step. She had grown enough to be brave enough. She took one more breath and then... took the first step. And then the next. And the next. She emerged from the shadows and walked towards the surprised biped, who hadn't expect company. She came to a halt in front of him. His birthday had been a few days ago, but that didn't matter. They had been too good friends to her ignoring his birthday. She extended her paw with the gift, eyes to the side and said softly:

"Happy Birthday"

She put the box on the ground, turned around and vanished into the shadows she had come from.
