Description

Taki was delighted, when her friends brought their pets for the next lesson. The lesson was about manipulating sounds and subject of the lesson were gurps. A lot of gurps. Loud gurps who were screeching and screaming. They had to mute their screaming just like Ms. Netty demonstrated. Taki would have found this very fascinating, if she wasn't busy with befriending the spotted Coatala and the green Runeboo. It didn't take long and she was cuddling and playing with them, while the others tried to shut those crazy water screamers up.

"Taki, how about you help us here?", a distressed Imp yelled over the noise. It was clear that Silas didn't enjoy this screeching. As long as Taki had known him - and that was a long time - he has been fascinated with music and tunes and has proven again and again that he had keen hearing abilities. He was her friend, so she should probably help him, but...

"But they are so cute!", she cooed and snuggled the furry companion of said Imp even more. "Taki, please!", Silas held his fluffy ears. Finally the smaller gro put the pets back on the ground and stood up. "Don't worry guys, I've got this!", the other Imp around suddenly stepped forward with a very self-confident expression on her face. Taki came next to Kris, the little pink Wyngling that seemed to be friends with Freya as well. "You think she'll make it?", Taki asked and Silas, who had put down his hands again, answered while watching Freya readying herself in front of a screaming gurp: "I hope so..."

And so Freya started to play her harp in order to control her magic as she let it flow: "All I have to do is silence it with my harp." Freya's magic glands began to glow and music filled the air, while the screams of the gurps seemed to... fade.

"WOAH! It's working! You're so cool, Freya!", with nothing but fascination Taki looked up to the female imp, her eyes glittering. Silas seemed relieved at well. "Ahaha~ You flatter m-", Freya started slightly flustered, but then her claw missed the right string - a screeching "CLING" flew through the air and Freya's magic frizzled out... The screams returned with full force, leading to Taki yelping.

"I-I'm so sorry!", Freya blubbered, trying a bit to hard to continue her song - to no avail. Taki put a claw on her arm and smiled: "You were awesome! And you can do it again, but this time, we'll help!" The Runeboo cooed almost as if he understood and agreed to what Taki had said. Silas came to Taki's other side and nodded: "Let's do this. But fast!"

They nodded again to each other, then the group of two Imps, one standard Wyngro and two pets got into position. Freya started to play again, Taki hold up her staff and Silas reached out with his hand while their magic glands lightened up. Even the Runeboo held his head high and closed it's eyes as it tapped into his own pool of magic. The Coatala on the other hand joined too, but since he didn't have an ounce of magic, he just stood there proudly.

As they concentrated, Taki let her magic flow freely, it flooded the land and the lake as the screams of the nearby gurps were replaced by mysterious whispering, before all sounds came to a stop. Happily Taki opened her eyes again and turned to her friends: "It worked! It worked!"

Again, Silas looked very reliefed and a big smile plastered Freya's face, but then something strange happened: She moved her mouth, but nothing happened. Confused Taki tilted her head: "Did you say something?" It looked like the Imp was laughing, then she moved her lips again. Then Silas looked like he was talking as well - but she couldn't hear them! "Uhm, I can't hear you, can you speak up a bit, please?", she asked nicely, but was worried by the just as worried glances she got from her friends. She looked around, everything seemed normal, there was just no sound. No gurp screaming, no noise from the other students, no voices of her friends, no birds calling, no wind whistling, not the mews of the Coatala that rubbed it's back against her leg - nothing. Tears started to form in the corner of her eyes as she realized that she could hear NOTHING. "I-I can't hear anything! I-I'm deaf! I'm deaf!", she cried out, not noticing in her panic that her magic glands still glowed brightly as her magic silenced every sound that came near her.
