Description
Doctor Whooves and Derpy. One combination that almost guarantees shenanigans of ultimate hilarity and adorableness. This time, somehow, they took a train with them.So...I was deciding what color the engine should be. I settled on dark blue and white. Then I realized those are the colors of the Tardis. Unintentional yet kindof cool...anyway, the number on the smokebox, "3", is also a reference to time travel. Can anybody guess how? ;D

Is it because Back to the Future III has a train?

Yep. Sierra Railway #3 was the locomotive used for that movie.

I don't know, I just does I'm not really satisfied with it, to tell you the truth. I should have shaded the engine and ponies...but I was lazy...
Thanks for the compliment!

You're welcome! I'm trying to learn how to draw as well. You just form your ponies with circles and such, yes?

SilverwolvesForever In reply to GamziMakr [2013-01-28 23:15:12 +0000 UTC]
Essentially. The head is always a circle, and I rough out the joints with circles, connecting them with lines to form the "skeleton". Then I start on the "fleshy" outlines.

I have a hard time drawing a perfect circle. I blame my unsteady hands. How do you do this?

SilverwolvesForever In reply to GamziMakr [2013-02-26 02:11:02 +0000 UTC]
I don't. Haha, as you can tell by the smokebox, I have a hard time too, so when I'm doing smaller stuff I use drafting templates...
But, a friend told me to try drawing with the shoulder rather than the wrist, and that works a lot better - circles and curves are much more fluid. Now the problem is breaking the wrist habit.
Frankly, stuff like this only comes with practice. You should have seen what my drawings looked like when I first seriously started drawing two years ago. I sucked. As long as you keep at it you can learn pretty quickly. Hope this helps.

Somebody else suggested that too, and now I can't unsee it Entirely unintentional. But totally ruined how I look at trains now...

Okay, this is just plain cool. Even before reading the description I caught the Back to the Future reference. That takes it beyond the typical Doctor and Derpy level and makes it even better.
Nice work!

And that's what the Doctor sees: [link]
Also, steam trains are made of awesome and metal.
Nice job with that smoke and steam and, obviously, with the train itself! Also, Derpy's wings are lovely (and quite large). Good job indeed!

That is just awesome. Great job and combining some of my favorite time travel characters, from the train in a triolgy of movies, and the tardis, and oh so much fun.

Thanks! Yes, Sierra # 3 was the engine in Back to the Future, which is what the number references.

Did you know that that's the "3" reference? Sierra Railway Number 3 was the locomotive that pushed the Delorean and died a horrible death at the bottom of a canyon.
