Description
This picture has several meanings to me. As those of you who have seen my New Year's greeting for 2002 ([link] ) may have noticed, the picture for 2004 is inspired by the first image's atmosphere and colors. I wanted this to be ethereal, spiritual and inspiring. The orcas are there for a special reason; one of the things I'm most happy and proud of for 2003. Though I am a poor little starving artist, at the beginning of last year I decided I could still spare a handful of money every month, and so I decided to support the World Wildlife Fund, WWF ([link] ) and their Orca Project.
The research being done in this project is partly to better understand and preserve these amazing animals, but also to study them as the predators on top of the food chain, getting important information about the state of the world's oceans - solid, scientific information enough to actually bring about changes.
I know my little contribution may not in itself make a great difference, but at least when I grieve the state of the earth today, it makes me feel so much better knowing that I'm doing something, doing my little part to change it.
If more people did, things might soon look very different on this little blue planet we all call home. Better, for one thing.
Inspired yet?

Indeed thanks to the title and nicely-rendered artwork for its time, this does bring back dreamy (and literally so!) memories! <3 It pertains a nostalgic value, both semantically and artistically visual. Glad to see it's still here as long as its lasted.

This picture is great! I must thank you because you are one of the first artists I discovered many years ago. That helped me to become an artist too. I mostly draw Sailor Moon art.

I love Orca whales, but you forgot to color in the saddle. And they seem a bit sharper than they should be. You have to remember that they're not bottle nose dolphins. The nose is supposed to be more rounded.

I had such experiences in 2004 : D
such as in feb if I remember correctly
ooo Submitted: Jan 8, 2004
while watching The Lion King, starting with 'the circle of life' sung by Disney channels 'circle of stars'
then there was an ad for Brother Bear
'the world is full of magic' it begins
'I tried so hard and got so far'
'it doesn't how hard you try'?
anyhow, that's just what was chosen in windows media player on shuffle
anyway, november 2003, I saw tlotr-thereturn of the king for the first time,
in the futurist theatre on the seafront, with 3 friends, Adam Nellis, Matthew Wilson and Simon Johnson
