this is an old piece of art that i uploaded on TLKFAA back in 2006. i am kind of proud of it, and so i thought i would share.
i will occasionally upload some of my better FAA pieces here...

I love Zira. Her and Shenzi are my all time favorite Lion King characters.

I used to think I was the only Zira fan around, but I'm glad I know others. In my opinion, you captured Zira's beauty (and yes, I think she's a pretty lioness) and Kovu's cuteness.

there's something compelling about that psychotic cat that i can't get enough of. maybe it's because she's brave, devoted, clever, resourceful, and a weirdly good leader in her own, twisted way.

The thing I love about her is that she's a caring leader over all. She also, in my opinion, wasn't truly evil but she was blinded by her love for Scar and thus wanted to get back at Simba for not only being the cause of Scar's death but for also banishing her and her family away from the pridelands.

considering that she managed to raise THREE cubs to adulthood in conditions that should have destroyed them, while also managing to keep a rather large pack of hungry, powerful predators together and more or less cooperating with her, says a hell of a lot about her leadership skills and personality. she also tended to do her own dirty work and not pass it off to others like scar did. she fought to the death instead of trying to bluff her way out of it and blame things on her underlings. damn. i really like zira.

It's nice to see her not completly insane, I mean she held a group of 10-20 lionesses together in a place with 'little food, less water' for YEARS, not only that but they stayed loyal to her, raised at least 6 cubs to maturity, stayed decently fit and committed.
...In a way I wish we could have met her before Scar's death sent ehr around the bend, in many ways she reminds me of Sarabi (who is the character I admire above ALL others, her defiance scene just... wow.)
...Granted I feel the same way about Hannibal Lector, which is probably why I like Hannibal Rising so much
(Hannibal Lector =only horror villian/movie that doesn't make me laugh)

insane does not always mean you are running around in circles babbling and seeing things. a lot of very pathological psychos (like serial murderers) are seemingly normal under most circumstances.
