Aaaaand now we're up to 600 < 3

WHOLY SHIT GUYS OVER 1000 FAVS! THANK YOU!

I made this stamp because often I get told that animation is something solely meant for children.
I, personally, still see animated films in theaters more often than I see live action ones. Some people fail to see that it's just another way of telling a story, not a dumbed down version for children.
Animated movies can tackle very real issues as seriously as any medium. Furthermore, the conflicts can be taken very seriously. Films like The Secret of NIMH, Watership down, Grave of the fireflies, Felidae and more recently Pixar's Up are very serious movies, clearly not meant solely for children.

How to train your dragon was produced by Dreamworks animation. It is loosely based on the novel of the same name by Cressida Cowell

Thank you! This is awesome, animation is intelligent and beautiful a aspect which can only be truely appreciated by adults. Animations these days direct towards adults take Megamind for example the humor, characters, emotion and story was something only adults could really understand fully, I mean take all the pop references, that is something that would go completely over a child's head and they aren't adding them in for the sake of it, they are aiming it towards adults, animation wants to be taken more seriously but unfortuately it is given the title 'children's animation' alot of my friends think I'm strange when I say my favourite films are animated cause they don't take the time to sit down and watch them because they have convinced themselves its for children.
Megamind was very poorly advertised, they made it look quite childish in the trailers when in fact it's very deep and is a film to be taken seriously.

Well, I'm not an adult, but I think I took Megamind more seriously than half the adults in the theatre. I actually got the humor (but I wasn't laughing too loudly, unlike the guy behind me. Seriously -_-). Yeah, many animated films like Megamind, How to train your dragon, and Tangled (if you've seen the movie, the ending, oh God ;~ want to be taken seriously. They really do. I would have thought animated movies like Secret of NIMH would have proven long ago that animation is for everyone. Apparently not. I greatly prefer animated movies in general, but no one really understands.

Best stamp in the world, huh?
Thanks

Haha, that happens to me, obviously. Or I would have never made this stamp.
Like, I was gushing over this movie Pixar is planning called 'Brave' (only movie they have planned at the moment that isn't a sequel) because Pixar has yet to really impress me (I've liked some of their work but never really OMGLOVED any of it.) So I'm really excited for this one, it sounds really good. Anyway, they looked at me and said "a Pixar movie? You know they're just kids movies."

Brave? I haven't heard about it... The movie Newt looked cute, but they aren't going to make it
I guess I like almost all the movies of Disney ^^
Yeah, that happens to me too, but I still enjoy all this movies and I'm starting to think of studying animation.. it would be magic

Well I do prefer "Brave" as the title, because it does sound pretty motivating, especially since it can also be another teaching tool on why it's better to be that way like the numerous animated films and shows that we grew up with!

Chaletica In reply to ??? [2010-11-15 09:36:39 +0000 UTC]

True. I love cartoons, and I don't care if some of them are marketed for kids. Also, not all cartoons are kid-friendly either. Like South Park, for example. Also, animation is cool because you can do things with it that would never work in live action.

Also counts for video games. Almost all games I play are 3+/E or 7+/ and they are great. Still, some gamers thinks everything 12+/T and under are "just kids games". -_- meh, go have fun with your FPSes full of 12-year old kids that scream into the mic.

So true, very nice stamp. Sometimes the directors may aim the dialogue at a younger audience, but it's pretty much for everyone. It's just another way of telling a story.

SimbaTheHuman In reply to alvin938 [2010-11-12 21:07:57 +0000 UTC]

Exactly, and it's an awesomer way of telling the story. In fact, with animation you can make stories into movies that could never work in live action. So yay for animation. xD

Love your icon, by the way
