WHOLY SHIT GUYS OVER 1000 FAVS! THANK YOU!
I made this stamp because often I get told that animation is something solely meant for children.
I, personally, still see animated films in theaters more often than I see live action ones. Some people fail to see that it's just another way of telling a story, not a dumbed down version for children.
Animated movies can tackle very real issues as seriously as any medium. Furthermore, the conflicts can be taken very seriously. Films like The Secret of NIMH, Watership down, Grave of the fireflies, Felidae and more recently Pixar's Up are very serious movies, clearly not meant solely for children.
How to train your dragon was produced by Dreamworks animation. It is loosely based on the novel of the same name by Cressida Cowell

Felidae is actually not marketed for kids.
The others mentioned, yes they are (not saying they're solely meant for kids, it's just that the primary audience is kids). Yeah, it doesn't seem like it for Watership Down's case but it's rated U which is the British equivalent of the G-rating of the American system. There are people who complained about the rating.
Fritz the Cat
Family Guy
South Park
American Dad
Rick and Morty
Daria
Beavis and Butt-head
Rock n' Rule
My Life as a Zucchini
are other examples of adult animation.
My Life as a Zucchini though is very tame for an adult animation and is on Matt Groening's works and Bob's Burgers' level of adult content. It's borderline family-friendly.

Anyone who says that animation is only for kids clearly hasn't watched any anime.

Coco, for instance, is a movie that was aimed at kids but certainly wasn't just for them. My dad loved it, my mom loved it, and my two friends who are about my age loved it. And I think it did have some very serious and potentially intimidating themes, such as a character being poisoned at one point and there were certainly some very intensely emotional parts.. that I'll admit I nearly cried at. Really, there are many movies like that, but this is an example.
"Animated" does not mean that it only appeals to kids - cartoons can be entertaining for teenagers and adults too!

Agreed. Heck, there are animated shows that are aimed at kids but are popular with older audiences like the DCAU, both Avatar series, Voltron: Legendary Defender etc.

A children’s story that can only be enjoyed by children is not a good children’s story in the slightest.

Wrong choice of picture for the stamp. Despite Toothless being a freaking DRAGON(sort of), How to train your dragon/Riders of Berk is still cutesy kiddy fluff. Goliath(Gargoyles) or Spawn(HBO's Spawn) are much better examples, seing as they are darker, more mature in tone and better drama. Coincidentally, they are voiced by the same person. Here are the most epic quotes IMO: ''Only you would consider love a weakness...''(Goliath) and ''I want my humanity back...''(Spawn). Also while serious and sad, none of these cartoons holds a candle to ''Plague Dogs''. Just... go watch it(wipes tears). I agree with the stamp's message though.

I honestly think most of the animated movies made over the years are better at conveying emotion and drama better than live-action XD

If I had a nickel for each time I heard about a parent taking their child to an R-rated animated movie and then complaining because a "kids' movie" had inappropriate content, I might be able to make a whole animated movie myself!

There was this one guy who pretty much berated me for liking Megamind which is a Dreamworks movie by saying it was bad and formulaic 'kiddie crap' as he called it and he claimed he saw it and thought it was awful. Using the ol 'it's a stupid kiddie movie' excuse. Animated movies are NOT always for family audiences and he should know that.

You're certainly right.
I've seen that movie before. There are better movies, of course, but I liked it.

But HTTYD? Really? You could have chosen something from an actual adult film, you even list better examples then HTTYD.
