Description 300400 favs owo That's a lot

Aaaaand now we're up to 600 < 3

WHOLY SHIT GUYS OVER 1000 FAVS! THANK YOU!

I made this stamp because often I get told that animation is something solely meant for children.
I, personally, still see animated films in theaters more often than I see live action ones. Some people fail to see that it's just another way of telling a story, not a dumbed down version for children.
Animated movies can tackle very real issues as seriously as any medium. Furthermore, the conflicts can be taken very seriously. Films like The Secret of NIMH, Watership down, Grave of the fireflies, Felidae and more recently Pixar's Up are very serious movies, clearly not meant solely for children.

How to train your dragon was produced by Dreamworks animation. It is loosely based on the novel of the same name by Cressida Cowell

My Film Studies class is using Aardman Animations as a case study and some of their stuff definitely isn't for children

Agreed
I just watched Felidae a few days ago and IΒ΄m still impressed by the violence of it(I still love it). There is also a sex scene and everyone just went: "Wtf? This is for kids?" ItΒ΄s annoying. The weird thing is that itΒ΄s labeled FSK 12 in Germany. And someone mentioned it was even shown on Kika(channel for young children) on easter...They probably confused it with Aristocats

"South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut", "Eight Crazy Nights"... those are for adults, though it's permitted for kids to watch the latter, but the former is absolutely not allowed for them... neither version is.

Totally agree! It drives me absolutely insane every time I hear this crap. Animation is a medium, not a genre, and can be used to tell any kind of story for any demographic. Rugrats is for kids. Care Bears is for kids. But movies like Secret of Nimh, Up, Toy Story, Prince of Egypt Lion King, Wreck It Ralph, etc. etc. (seriously this list could go on for paragraphs and paragraphs) are meant for EVERYONE. I'm so glad I'm not alone in thinking like this!

I have watched all of the movies in the description, except Grave of the Fireflies. I used to love The Secret of NIMH when I was a little kid and, innocent as heck, I never realized how sad and twisted the movie was. Now that I'm older, I completely understand.

I agree with you, there are a lot of animated movies out there that are for adults.

Ever seen Heavy Metal? I assure you, just because it's animated, it is NOT for kids.
No, really.
It has sex scenes in it. And I've heard people call it 'sick & twisted' just because it's an animated movie that has sex scenes.
They talk about the creators like they're sick people that want to expose children to pornography or something.

It enrages me to no end.

That so true. My mum and me Wear in the theatre Watch about those Owls in the Big oldest Tree (if you see that can you tell me the title I can't remember it) I Hear Children Crying and Complain in that movie they have some tackle very real issues as seriously (I Don't like to hear children complain and crying in the Theatre It so Annoying). My teacher said I Should stop watching Pokemon because its for kids :/ and I Still Love that show... My older Brother is really big in to Pixer films so as I Do. Some people think its for "Any Age" and Some People its for "Kids" and I Prefer its for Any age.

Also I Remember Seeing "The Secret of NIMH" when I Was a baby...

I couldn't agree more. I've seen Felidae and read Watership Down as well as The Secret of NIMH (I haven't seen the two movies but the books do get into some serious stuff). It irks me when people just assume animation is just for kiddies, because it's not. Besides that, I prefer animation to live action anyway, and I always will. <3

It's sad that a lot of people think the same thing about comic books. Just because it has illustrated pictures does NOT mean it's only for small children who can't read. There are TONS of graphic novels out there that are definitely NOT for children. I plan on writing some graphic novels for young adults and some of the content in there probably wouldn't sit well with small children, and I HATE hearing people tell me that I better turn into a regular noveleist because there just isn't a market for that, because it isn't true and they just don't want to look around and see that tons of teens are reading graphic novels. Ugh.
