The copy-paste is a little obvious.. I guess it's hard to say, not knowing what the story behind this is, whether that would enhance the story or not (finding an order in something as chaotic as the cloud of birds).

This is beautiful, but I mostly love the subtle characterization and the warm light coming from the horizon. It provides wonderful contrast and focus.
You obviously spent a lot of time on this, with each bird being separately painted, but once I noticed that there were only two bird poses, it made the picture look rather forced and eerie.
I don't have your skill or patience to pull off this kind of painting, but I think with the magic of digital copy/pasting, one or two more different flight poses should be rather feasible.
