This is a breathtaking piece.
Your use of the traditional watercolor style reminds me of some of the famous British watercolorists of the 19th century. The blue, violet, and raw sienna and darker brown pigments blend perfectly to form the breathtaking sequence of birds in flight at sunset. It reminds me of the sunsets I use to witness over Lake Washington in Seattle, WA. Additionally, it reminds me of living in England, and being in the country in the US and walking down the highways of dirt roads, hand in hand with my mother as we traveled to the store.
Also, the two women (the girl, and what I can only guess is her older sister), running with the water ox, remind me of a classical Asian sequence. Are those rice patties in the background? Or corn/wheat?
The women holding the lantern is of central view and the picture gives a great deal for the eye, it is balanced. The lanterns (specifically, the woman holding the lantern) reminds me of The Light of the World by Holman Hunt, 1854. I especially love the detail you have formed, the distance, the town with lights. This is an image so many of us can see from our lives. Traveling, coming away from a town. A highway of sorts and we travel through the country. Perhaps we are on an opposing hill overlooking the fields.
I am not sure about the perspective, perhaps due to scale, but the image makes me think of either being higher up in elevation (slightly) and walking next to the patties, or the field is flat and you are in the middle of a great field with hills with a small town in the back ground.
Either way, this is an exceptional work and I'm defiantly going to favorite it, and hopefully get a print in the future for my mother. I know she will love this.
Please continue to grow as an artist. This is beautiful. The serenity and nostalgia is prolific. Thank you.

wow this reminds me of where I live, in the spring and the fall you get a huge flocks of birds covering the sky and then disappearing into the trees! I like it alot, must of taken alot of effort to make all those birds. Looks amazing!
