I see you looking at meYou've been staring for a while.
You'll try, but you can't see beyond
this mask we call a smile.
I love that some will never know
of heartache, strife, or trial.
Yet those with woes can hide behind
this mask we call a smile.
I know many use this trick
and many they beguile.
Though they be hungry, tired, or sick,
they're covered by a smile.
You would have never known my heart,
I could have faked it all the while
but I forsake the shelter of
this mask we call a smile.
