The render is cute, but I especially am impressed by the lighting with the lanterns and the bar effects.Β Morocco?

It's Jack Tomalin's Marrakesh Souks 2012.Β The lighting is simply a low power AoA AAL set to 0 for fall-off (so it's a 'global' illuminator), and an AoA ADL set so it shines down through some of the cables and stuff that the set has (to get those shadows), and applying UberArea light shader to the bulbs in the lanterns (plus increasing Opacity on them and dialling up and setting the Ambient.Β Intensity was set to 3500% for them).
