It's not an assault rifle unless it can fire in full-auto or burst-fire too. And that would also mean that it's not an actual AK47, either. It's a semi-automatic clone of the AK47.

Nope, it's a genuine, real-deal rifle. Milled steel receiver, fires the M43 cartridge. The only real difference between this gun and the '50s era AK is my rifle is semi auto and has a few Chinese markings.

Mostly, it's just the centerpiece of my collection. However, it is serving as my home defense weapon, along with my HiPower. When my Ithaca M37 comes in on Monday, this AK will probably be just for fun and the occasional hog hunt (and as a financial investment).

Home defence weapon? Where are you living, if you are buying such stuff for defence? (or how often do you play homefront?)

Well, I live in the middle of the country, back in the woods. Very few cops around here (the nearest cops would be 20 minutes away at least, unless you luck out and get a highway patrol officer). Plus, it's better to have and not need than to need and not have. And a carbine is always better than a pistol in the defensive role.
