To celebrate my friend ~kaibyaku 's birthday, this double layered marble cake was designed in secret with the help of his girlfriend and my husband. The fondant was very cooperative with me because I found the concentrated icing dye to color it for the power and 1up mushrooms, goomba, green pipes and hills, yellow coins, and white cloud.You can see the side of the cake in the top left corner, and the top of the cake in the bottom right corner. I got the idea from this album . Classic Super Mario Brothers games bring back so many memories. Retro gamers, unite!

As for this being the best, I'd say in terms of detail, I'd give this one first place, but still, you're absolutely right about the Hylian shield cake-- nothing beats a prop from a Zelda game.
