Playing around drawing more Humanized!Shard today. I've tweaked a few details in his look since the last batch, and I think it looks much better. I also gave current!Metal a cooler, beefier look that doesn't look so wimpy anymore.A lot of it is really messy- it really should go into my scraps. But nah, I don't feel like it. :V
In case you can't see the text between Shard and Sonic at the bottom:

There's a vertical sequence of Shard hand waving and doing poses ("It's kinda embarassing...") - there's a bit of dialogue that goes with that, but I think I'd like to do more with it and finish it up before I post it.
Also started making a human design for Nicole. She looks about the same as she does in her mobian form, but would typically be glitching out somewhere or look more holographic, or have some kind of virtual imperfection that gives her away. Something akin to how Cortana looks.
I need to design Chuck already so I can include him in these sketch batches. :/

Pretty awesome character studies/sketches here! Admittedly I'm only remotely interested in Shard because of how you've drawn and interpreted him as a human character. I haven't been up to date with the recent Archie comics, so the fact that I've been seeing this different Metal Sonic-looking character pop up on DA has confused me a bit. Considering the poses and expressions here he seems like quite the character. That bottom right sketch of him is wicked. Also loving Nicole! I think she looks spot on to the character and she's got such lovely facial features. She looks cute in that coloured doodle with Shard.
For Metal Sonic, I thought it was really interesting that your gijinka version of Metal has very different facial features and a pale skin tone to your human version of the blue blur. Any particular reason why you've decided to make the human counterpart look so different, when technically having a robotic-lookalike should look like him? I'm not disliking the design, (Far from it!) but just curious if you had a story or reason for the visual differences here.

Shard is probably my favorite thing to come out of the book in the past year, he's too much fun. I can't wait until I have a few more human designs finished up, because I want to recreate some scenes from the book. That'll probably help give you a handle on his personality more.
Haha, actually that was a problem I had when I designed the Metals and Sonic- They were some of the first I made, and I did them separately. So they ended up not looking anything like each other because I wasn't taking the human project seriously yet. :V
I have yet to go back and make sure they all align with each other. I probably won't be able to bring myself to change Shard much (I've done the unforgiveable and I've gotten attached to an inferior design instead of making it better

Recreating some scenes? That would be pretty intense to see! Plus I think it'd be an interesting experiment to see how character expressions and reactions turn out when drawn with humans. Considering the vast amount of sketches here of Shard show variations of his character expression, I think I get a generalized understanding of his quirks and behaviour. Still, I'd be interested in see sketches or pictures of him in the future if you plan on sharing them.
Ahhhh. I wasn't aware of that. 
Took a quick glimpse of Shard at the wiki since I didn't know his backstory, but could his current human design remain with the same look because he's an alteration of Metal Sonic? He's gone through so much "surgery" after previous attacks and damage (such as his incident in the volcano for example) that his appearance could greatly vary from Sonic's? Just tossing random ideas out there! Either way, if you do plan on going back to the Metal characters to redesign them, I wish you luck.

Yeah, I think I can get away with keeping Shard the way he is. From an out of universe point of view, too, he really doesn't look that much like Sonic anymore. Like a combination of Sonic, Shadow, and a Metal Sonic (and that's basically his personality in a nutshell too- Sonic's cocky and personable attitude, Shadow's identity issues and insecurities, the abilities and appearance of a Metal Sonic). I've always found it stupid that people in-comic could ever confuse Sonic and Shadow, or Sonic and a Metal Sonic, but it's still a quality I've gotta work in somehow. Shard's earlier looks are where I'm most concerned (other than the Kai version, which doesn't look a fig like Sonic), since they focus on being Sonic's evil counterpart more than his current incarnation does. For reference, this is where they stand now for the most part: (I'm not sure if you'd seen this yet. It's old and ugly. 
I think just a fresh take on the hair and accessories might be all I need to make them fit.
Current Metal Sonic's gonna be a goober though.

Oh yes! I recall skimming through this sketch piece when looking at your pictures of Shard. I wasn't aware that the red Metal Sonic was named 'Kai'. I always felt that form to be ridiculously terrifying. Playing around with variations of the accessories would help tie them all together in my opinion. If you still want them to look similar to one another keep the general features and see where changes in accessories will take you.
I am most thrilled by how much of a 'goober' this reincarnated Metal Sonic seems. :V

And judging by the nice thing in the lower right corner, I foresee a Terminator-Esque thing with Shard in the future from you.
And yeh, hard to make a Humanization of NICOLE without there being a little of Cortana in there, and maybe a bit of SHODAN.
Though there's no Hair made out of Zeroes and Ones, or a weird face made out of wires and, Tubes, so yeh nice.
