Description This is an, as of yet, unnamed character in a story I am currently creating on chooseyourstory.com.
Original sketch by me
Character is mine
Airbrush/color done in gimp
background is my horrible attempt at a desert... But, it turned out to look more like a meadow. Just pretend it's sandy XD backgrounds are not my thing hehe.
to :
I would love some advice/help making the background actually look like a desert.
Also any advice on her hands is greatly appreciated
Plus any other details I may have overlooked that need improvement

I feel like the hole in her pants is very unnecessary. It makes the pants likely to fall down, since they're held up only by a couple small straps. If you're going for nudity just forgo the shirt, since a lot of African tribes have no topless taboos.
I would try drawing her from a couple other angles too to check if the outfit actually works.
Anatomy wise, her ankles are too thin, especially since it appears that her boots are strips of leather wrapped around her calves. She's also a little too flat - if she's a huntress, I would make sure she has a large enough ribcage to make running/endurance seem believable. I understand if she's meant to be thin, and for the most part she looks good actually, just watch out for that. Possibly bring the breasts forward a little, since they sit on the front of the ribcage.
I quite like her design actually. Her face is very nice and I love her hair. The 3/4 views is nicely executed as well!

Thank you so much for the advice.
I've actually never drawn nudity, to be honest. I have been considering redoing her with just the loin cloth and no pants. And I won't lie, the shirt was very half hearted on my part, I just couldn't decide what to put under her shawl/veil(it can be pulled up to cover her head/face). I may attempt to redo it with her chest bare and perhaps give her some body paint to tie in with her face paint?
Thank you so much for the review and compliments.

Body paint is always interesting. I would think about where she is living. If it's hot, windy and dusty, she'll probably want to keep the cape, shirt, and pants to protect herself from sand being blown around. If it's got more vegetation and less sand, you're probably fine with no shirt. (Think Saharan desert vs Mid African scrub desert)

Yes, she is a character from a fiction story I am working on. She would be in a very dry, sandy desert with frequent sandstorms. The cape can be pulled up to protect her head and face. I think I will remove the loin cloth and make it a sash and close up the pants. I'm still not sure about her feet. I may change her foot wrappings to actual boots or sandles.

Boots would probably keep the sand out, but it doesn't mean you can't keep the cool wrapping effect around the top

Heh, it's just the side view. Technically she is wear a loin cloth so she is covered. It's just the angle
