The fandom is horrible, omg… I also don't like the fact that Shiro is gay because the fandom absolutely escalated after that announcement… Everyone is calling it queer-baiting now but people were just expecting too much of it…

I agree. The writers don't owe the fans anything, they aren't entitled to seeing Shiro and Adam get back together. In fact, I think the fact that they don't reflects the themes of war and that some decisions can't be undone. Shiro had a choice, and he chose space over his bf. Also the show isn't about romance it's about saving the universe from bad guys in a giant robot made out of cats.
