Character design inspirations for the tiny couple:

Val...from Valerie Scott, played by Deanna Lund, on the 1960s tv show "Land of the Giants"...spoiled red-headed heiress (a Paris Hilton of her day) who finds herself and the other passengers and crew of a space flight being stuck on a planet where the people are 12 times their size. The entire 51 episode series was released on a deluxe DVD set recently.

Carey...from the character of Abu the thief played by Sabu, in the 1940s movie "The Thief of Baghdad". Wore nothing but a loincloth for most of the film and gets carried around and gets almost stepped on by a giant genie. One of the better fantasy films made...and in Technicolor, too!

I like shrinking people themes...great underdogs to root for. Can be rendered helpless when a giant grabs them, but managing to survive at the end.
