The scent of death was present in the basement for months. We never truly knew why. For the longest time, we had just assumed excessive water damage and mold build up was to blame, and with a lot of contemplation, we went out of our way to make repairs and get rid of the awful scent as best we could. Little did we realize, human remains had been stashed inside the walls through a opening behind the dryer. It wasn’t just any opening, but rather a nest. Something was—or still is...living here. Wherever it went, we suspect it may still be closer than we think.
