Description
An old contest entry to invent a PokΓ©mon Formeβthat pre-mega evolution business.A wild Salamence turns into the guard forme when it feels that its territory, mate, or children are threatened. Usually the forme is triggered when the Pokemon is extremely agitated. It's generally difficult for guard forme Salamence to fly for long distances due to the large plates on its head, tail, body and legs. Salamence can change back into its regular (as I call it "speed") forme after it cools off and/or no longer feels threatened. This usually takes some time though, as Salamence is already a ferocious creature that can get pretty fired up. A trained Salamence will only become this forme when a trainer that it is truly devoted to is in danger.

This is really good! I like the colors and how they all blend together really nicely, especially on the wings and on the ground. Nice job!

Dang, that is awesome! This thing looks much more intimidating and agile than a regular Salamence. I really like the addition of the red spikes to the tail, the red parts on the forelimbs, and the crown of red spikes on its head.
It's hard to tell from the angle, but the way you've drawn it implies that it might even be bipedal in this form, which would be really cool.
I love the angle, by the way. Mixed with that fierce expression and the ominous billowing Dragonbreath attack, it makes for quite the frightening figure! I'm sure the foe is horrified.
Lastly... Yay for traditional media! Are those watercolors or watersoluble colored pencils I spy? At any rate, it looks absolutely to die for. Great job blending the colors in the sky. They harmonize with the Guard Forme's colors just enough to make everything look really cohesive, but they're also different enough that the Pokemon sticks out nicely.
Quite well done! Nice blending on Salamence's body, too.
Overall, this simply rocks. Wonderful work, and good luck in the contest!

Thank you very much! Actually, the angle obstructs the bellow armor that I had in mind for Salamence too.
And yes, that is water soluble pencil I used. They're great!

Dragonite's my favorite, well, if you don't count Lugia. Dialga's pretty awesome too.

Whoever could forget Dragonite? (I chose Pearl for my game; I don't know too much about Dialga, sadly)

I like Dialga mostly for design. I do like the "Roar of Time" attack though.
