I actually don't know, haven't tought about that... Maybe something bigger or goddess-like (i don't know how to describe it) when their journey went further on and they got stronger. Yes, something that made them look stronger.^^ What about you?
And yes I agree it would have been nicer to have other costumes or at least you could decide what to wear and where. I really liked how in Final Fantasy X-2 you changed outfits in battles depending what class(?) you want to be in that moment. But I guess it would go a bit too confusing in Ni No Kuni...^^"

Esther is a songstress so I think it would be nice to put her in a pretty dress ^^ actually something like this could be good i651.photobucket.com/albums/uu… yes I see what you mean, in Square's new game Bravely Default its very similar where the characters have different jobs/roles with different costumes that add skills. Considering the focus of the battles is on the familiars I suppose it could be confusing regardless just alternative costumes that do nothing would had been a nice addition.

And yea it would have been nice if there would be outfits to choose from, even if they did nothing. Maybe they tought it wouldn't be so important that's why they left that out. But it still would've been nice...

The dress I shown you is actually from a Namco game, a Tales characters's alternative outfit, so they could have given Esther the same dress ^^ I guess that could be a reason but many RPGs nowadays do have alternative outfits. Like Tales of Xillia+2, Tales of Graces, Bravely Default, FF Lightning Returns etc so you could say its seen as the norm now. It seems odd why they decided to give the characters different outfits to traverse towns in like swimsuit and Winter coat but leave out any more. Hopefully if a sequel is being made they will decide to include them ^^

Perhaps sometime in the future you could draw Esther in a dress holding one of her harps like Muse or Bard. I'd like to see that ^^

Hmm that's weird I got it on on the first try. o 3 o
I can tell you a few tips:
- Try hiding in tight places
- Don't rush this segment
- Watch the patrol paths.
- Go the long way. Don't attempt to take shortcuts.
- Always wait for the guard to be somewhat far before you dash from point to point.
