Description
Charbeaus play a huge role in the world of LIDD. A billion of them inhabit it to the point that they are considered as their own strange separate specie.

They are used as workers that can be replaced at any time, can do different variations of tasks and have a strong discipline attached to them. They mostly take jobs that don't require deeper knowledge, are easy to do or jobs that are too dangerous for any other resident to do. Charbeaus can be waiters, miners, cashiers, janitors, loaders, bus drivers and etc.

Charbeaus are created as fully grown adults through magic by their queen mother Charbie. Because of that, their age doesn't matter. They are technically immortal as they can't die from old age, but usually a charbeau's life expectancy is maximum 5 years. It happens due to a large amount of stress that they have to go through, because of the unfortunate accidents, purposeful violence against them, overworking and etc. It's very common to see charbeau corpses on the streets.

Charbeaus appear to be as a mix between a cat and crow. All charbeaus are male and cannot reproduce. When a charbeau gains any sort of freedom, he may start to drastically deform in terms of appearance, which can be seen in Momori and Sebastian.

After being created they are assigned to a specific job and get basic knowledge for that job.

Charbeaus are very disciplined. From the beginning of their life they are taught to be polite and obedient. They follow a special codex, where all the rules regarding their societal role are written. They are not allowed to talk with strangers. They are not allowed to talk with workers that aren't charbeaus. They aren't allowed to go to the places in the city that isn't a place of their work or their home factory. They are not allowed to participate in any hobby or activity that isn't working and life essential related like sleeping or eating. They aren't allowed to be friends with strangers. They aren't allowed to form any romantic relationships with anyone. They must do everything that their owner says. They aren't allowed to raise their voice or go against their owner. They aren't allowed to go against their owner's critique of their work, even if it's nonsensical. They must do everything by the instructions that is given to them. They aren't allowed to do things differently. They aren't allowed to wear any different type of clothes that isn't their uniform unless it is required for their job.

Their uniform consists of a cheap dark suit with a tie, white shirt and black shoes.

Charbeaus that disobey the codex are either killed or get kicked out to the streets. If a charbeau that got deformed while being kept at an owner's place is being returned back, he is usually either killed or gets kicked out to the streets. If a charbeau acts violent, he is getting killed. A lot of the monitoring solely depends on the owner. If they see a mistake, they can report it to the corporation.

Two location points in a charbeau's life is their home factory and work place. Charbeaus are transported from each one to another by themselves on foot. They aren't allowed to take any buses, taxi and etc. Some charbeaus are kept at owner's home or work place all the time, like maids and butlers. Some charbeaus work at the factory to keep it going by cleaning it, cooking the food and etc. Charbeau cooks only exist in the factory. They aren't allowed to be used as cooks in a restaurant or any sort of cafe, cafeteria.

Charbeaus diet mostly consists of oatmeal, medicine and coffee. They aren't allowed to eat fast food, drink alcohol, energy drinks or consume any extreme health damaging foods and drinks. They can get treats from their owners however. If a single charbeau is sick, the whole factory is put under a quarantine. Non-sick charbeaus are allowed to go to work with a mask, but sick charbeaus either get locked up for healing or get killed and replaced with by another one.

In terms of personality charbeaus usually go into two different directions. They can be quiet, shy, people-pleasing and cowardly. Or they can be violent and spiteful towards other charbeaus, but not towards strangers and owners.

All charbeaus possess a French accent.
