Description
South Dakota, USA, July-August 2010Check out my American Road Trip 2010 video on my website: [link]

Since I was a big fan of dinosaurs, at the moment I saw this "monument" in South Dakota, I simply had to take this photo.
"Take me for a walk"; Dinosaurs were pets of cavemen after all!
Camera: Sony Cybershot DSC-TX1
Grading: Photoshop CS5

I can't decide whether I like this or not. I think it's interesting that if I cover up the right half of the picture (including the dino), I can tricky myself into thinking it's a painting.
It's surreal to see this huge sculpture out in the middle of nowhere, and I think the space in the picture is definitely necessary, but there is something not quite right, for me, and I really wish I could put my finger on what it is...
In any case, it certainly got something! Congratulations on the DD.

i wouldn't have dared to let such an amount of landscape around the sculptures. i hope you understand, what i mean. but you did perfectly well, thus showing the whole scene...
very nice one...
congrats to the DD

The video was made in a sort of "by the way". No longer version. But next time I see I have to film more.

This is very cool! I wish I had a pet dinosaur. Or maybe I don't. It would be sort of hard to walk a dinosaur.

i like the emptiness you created with the use of negative space. it agrees with me.

The shot has this post-apocalyptic-jurassic feel. You could almost imagine a steampunk movie with dinosaurs from this. Great!

How were these colors achieved? Did you use special filters or did you change it in Lightroom?
