Description
The character from Marvel Comics Group known as the Invisible Woman is my latest Deviation. She is an integral part of the team called, The Fantastic Four! Created decades ago, during Marvel's Golden Age, by Jack 'King' Kirby & Stan 'The Man' Lee. When comic books starred only one hero at a time, this was the first book for Marvel to put a team of Heroes together.

They received their 'elemental' powers from a cosmic storm during a scientific expedition in space. Ben Grimm (the Thing) represents earth, while Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) flows and expands like water. Married to Reed is Sue Storm (Invisible Woman) who can disappear into thin air and create solid structures and fields out of air. Her brother, Johnny Storm (Human Torch) utilizes fire and flames.

As a family, they explored the furthest reaches of outer space and other dimensions. They have defended the planet Earth from alien invasions and conquerors, such as the Skrulls and Galactus and the Silver Surfer. Their base of operations is in the heart of Manhattan.

I created this piece in SketchBook Pro with a Wacom Bamboo Tablet. You can see the other pencil sketches and inks in my Gallery and Scraps pile. I noticed that a lot of my Deviations were of characters either standing still or in a mild pose. I picked a very strong female character and chose an animated pose for her. Suddenly I added the Super-Skrull, and the main piece finally came together. So far I have worked many hours on this. I decided to keep the colors 'flat' for the time being. I did use a paintbrush on the flames and force field. An Airbrush was used for the background. I used the pen tool for the inking. Then a marker for the large areas of color. And the eraser. A lot.
