Simple Info
Golems
Golems are a race of humanoid aliens that live underground. They come in a variety of colors but the most notable traits are the round gems in the middle of their chests, the runes on their foreheads, and sometimes the crystal shaped protrusions on the sides of their head.
They must live underground due to the extreme temperatures and volatile weather conditions that is on the surface of their planet.
The entire race is ruled by a 12 member council, consisting of members that represent all of the different types of heartstones that golems can have.
Roles and Caste System
Depending on the type of heartsone that they have and how quality the gemstone is, golems can be assigned to many different types of roles. Normally, Golems are put into 4 categories:
Perfect: Golems with a perfect heartstone are the most valued and most rare in their society. They are usually assigned roles that put them in a leadership position. They have the nicest homes, have the most priviledges and the most freedom to do as they please.
The crystals on the sides of their heads are barely visible or not seen at all, only being small points. Perfect Golems all have the exact same body type, flat chests, smooth, thin figure, and delicate features.
Standard: Golems with a standard heartstone make up almost half of the entire race. They are the middle class. They can have a variety of roles, but never are they put into a position of great power like a Perfect Golem. The homes thay live in can be singular or bunched together in a complex, good, but never as luxurious as their higher ups. They are allowed acess to do most things as long as it doesn't disrupt those who rank above them.
They have one crystal protrusion on each side of their head. Their bodies are similar in shape with small to moderate differences between the Perfect Golem body shape.
Inferior: Golems with Inferior quality heartstones are numerous, but not so much as Standard types. Inferior Golems usually take up serving roles, doing hard labour for their superiors. Their homes are small and simple, and just like standard Golems, can be singular or bunched together in a complex, though ususally even if they do have singular homes they live in very close proximity to each other. It is rare to find these types living all by themselves in solitude.
PInferior Golems are reckognized by the two crystal protusions coming from the sides of their head. Their bodies have great variety between them and can vary greatly between each other. No two bodies are alike.
Defect: Golems with Defective heartstones are a small minority of the race, even more rare than Golems with Perfect heartstones. The reason for this is that mutants are normally terminated after they are formed. They are unwanted by the council that governs the society they live in and are hunted down whenever spotted. Since they are not assigned homes, they usually live wherever is secluded enough away from society and try their best to stay hidden. Often they will live in seclusion, but in rare cases they will bunch together in groups of 2-4.
Defect Golems have five crystal protrusion across their entire heads in a crown like pattern. They are pupiless, having only solid colors in their eyes. All of them have deformities, mostly the hands and feet.
Heartstones
Heartstones are what stores the "souls" of each Golem. They are mined from deep within their planet. They are then cut, shaped and enchanted through an aincent ritual, which will allow them to be used in creating a complete Golem.
Sometimes, if one is lucky enough, a gem is made from the same material of one of the twelve council members that rule. Gems made like this have much stronger abilities and powers, almost matching to that of their "parent".
A heartstone holds the memories, personality, thoughts, feelings, and everything else that makes up each individual's entire being. Even though these gems can bring life, they cannot bring conciousness, unless paired with a rune (see: Runes).
If cracked or damaged, a golem will not be able to funtion properly. They might lose the ability to speak, think, walk, etc. If a piece is lost, than so is a mental piece of themselves, the more that is lost, the less personality they have and the more lifeless they become. In a worst case scenario, they can become catatonic. If the gem is completely broken and is unable to stay in the chest of its host, they will die.
Runes
Runes are the key thing that brings life to a Golem after they are created, without this they can't think, speak or even move. It acts as an activation code when carved into the forehead of at their "birth".
A rune is chosen during the ceremony just before a golem is "born". It is the second componant of their personality while the gem is the first, so it is uncommon to find a golem with the same stone and rune, but even then no two golem's are completely alike in personality.
Biology
Golems are humanoid in shape. Their bodies are completely made of of clay, however their skin is soft and malleable like flesh and their hair is just like that of a human's. Their skin takes on the hues of their gems with the shade varying on the type of clay that was used. Their pupils are in the shape of diamonds and crystal growths are on the sides of their heads where ears would normally be on a human, they use these crystal growths to detect vibrations in the air to hear.
Because they have no genitals they cannot reproduce sexually, nor do they have the drive to. They have no internal organs, blood or bone structure, and their bodies are completely solid.
If the body of the Golem is damaged they will not suffer pain, unless the damage is close to their heartstone (Ex: A Golem will not feel pain if their arm is chopped off, but they will feel extreme pain if they are stabbed between the lungs.
Home and Environment
On the surface of their planet, temperatures can be between 460c to 470c. It is extremely deadly, with acid rain and sulphiric clouds covering the entire planet. Life is unable to sustain itself on the surface. However, underground, many plants and animals have made their homes deep underground. Many animals found inside the planet are blind, but they have a great sense of smell, touch, and hearing. There are few violent predators in the underground. Many plants in the underground are bioluminescent.

Here's a link to the blog. fantroll-askblog.tumblr.com/ I'm still setting up because I'm making references for everyone. It should hopefully be up around the start of next year. You'll be able to see the ref for Pinfire Opal once I've started and introduced him.
