This... took very very long. I can't even begin to try to figure out exactly how long. I've had it as a way to relax from school work the last few weeks, the moment I've felt I've had enough of vectors and animation, I've opened up this piece.
Painted with almost no references. The only time I've looked at reference pictures was for the pint and for the pub windows. Apart from that, it's all from my mind. Got some help from *livelow when trying to work out John's arms.

I wish I had more constructive feedback - I love this. The hands probably are my absolute favourite bits. The colours, the wood, the window - everything's amazing. I especially love the way you've done the hair. What a wonderful style you have. *goes to look at your gallery*
One nitpicky critique thing (and this is actually illuminating to me, for I do the exact same thing) -- John's left arm seems a bit squished into his body. I think it could be rectified by pulling it down the image so there's more space of his jumper between the neck and seam. A difficult pose - but you've done a tremendous job and it doesn't look bad at all as is; it gives it more a stylised feel if anything.

Aaah I know, I've had so much trouble with those bloody arms! Which arm is it that you mean, the one that is closer to us or the farther one? I've been trying to figure those arms out, but it's difficult since I have forbidden myself to use any references while working on this. So, well, all crit is VERY welcomed!

I'm really in love with your drawing style, and their profiles look absolutely amazing. The colors and composition are done very well and really tie the whole drawing together. The textures were thought out well and really add to the picture. Great job!

Sherlock bought John the beer. Obviously. As a peace offering, because apparently that's what you're supposed to do. For some reason I doubt Sherlock cares much for alcohol though. It just makes you fuzzy. Coffee is much better.
(plus, some part of me likes the idea of Sherlock amusedly watching as John slowly gets tipsier. maybe he's taking notes)
No no, that's not lame at all! I really wanted to make it both cool and warm, but I had no idea if I could pull it off. I wanted those gorgeous blues and purples they often use in the show, but it was important that the pub really felt warm and cosy as well.
The lyrics are just so incredibly spot-on, aren't they? And I absolutely love the play with words, how it sounds like "apologise" when it's in fact not. Maybe he would like to apologise, but he knows he can't really change so what he can do is to admit to knowing it's not a healthy behaviour.

sirL this is brilliant. I hope you are happy with it because this is very well done. You can tell you put time into it. And the little shines! (I call them sun dogs, but obviously no sun, so i don't know what to call them) :/ Are just the icing on the cake. The only thing I will comment on (not placing it in critique, because its only one thing and i really am in no position to crit you) is the arms on the fellow on the right. the foreshortening isn't working 100% and one still looks longer than the other. Having said that, I didn't notice until I noticed the crit request and started looking. So I wouldn't worry about it too much.
