Description Based on the following comic:

and soon to be entered in their fan art contest, where the theme is to take one or more of the comic's original (but still always based on Nintendo) characters and put them in new environments!

In this, I decided to turn Chain Link into a hero made entirely out of small metal trinkets, and also do the same to the other two crest carriers! Can you name all the pieces?

I put a lot of detail into the characters, and most of the time was spent figuring out what kind of pieces to use where!
There's also a tiny cameo of a more major original BitF character in there. See if you can find it.

And if you haven't read Brawl in the Family yet, I suggest you do it now. All of it.

Thanks to for coming up with a bunch of junk to use! It sounds pointless but IT'S REALLY REALLY HARD!

I am not aware of any words that are able to describe how awe inspiring this. But I do have a few questions; what are their clothes made from, is that steel wool on Ganon's mane, and what is bottom of Zelda's dress made from?

Thanks a lot!
Yeah, the clothes are supposed to be aluminium foil, although slightly colored Ganon's mane is steel wool indeed, and Zelda's dress is made from aluminium cookie forms: [link]

(I know the image isn't aluminium, but I am completely sure they exist! xD)

(My apologies for the late reply)

Alright! And yes, they do exist. My grandma used to use them.

Oh, and I was wondering, did you mean to make Link a righty? Because I noticed that had you flipped the pic, then not only would he be a lefty, but everyone would in the proper place of their Triforce.

But that's just me.

Oh yeah, I didn't think of the Triforce thing. But Chain Link being a righty comes from the comic strip which the picture is based on. I don't know why Matthew chose to draw him like that, but since it was fanart based on one of his characters, I decided to stay relatively true to it

Again, I'm very embarrassed about the late reply. Curse the fun of summer vacation.

I've never read that comic, but I greatly respect your idea of adding a reference to it! Very creative!

Oh, and by the by, would you happen to have a link to the strip? I would very much like to read it now.

I am absolutely IN LOVE with Link and Zelda, but unfortunately I don't like Ganon as much. His overall shape was hard to me to make out, there's not too much resemblance to his real model, and upon closer inspection the parts he is made up of don't really seem linked together. Sorry!

I would totally buy this game, no matter how annoying little lightbulb Navi would be!

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

SirPantalones In reply to Teengamer08 [2011-05-13 12:41:06 +0000 UTC]

You have no idea how difficult it was to piece Ganon together I wanted a kind of burly look, which didn't work with the standard chain + foil setup of the other two. It ended up being kind of an own version of Ganon. But I agree, it's definitely more difficult to make out his shape than Link's and Zelda's.

Thanks for the criticism, I'll make sure to take it into consideration!

All minor gripes aside though I really REALLY love it Excellent work, I would really love it if you did a series in the same style But that's you, not me. I'm happy you won the contest!

Just love it, but there's just a few things... Link is left handed, Ganon's too awsome, Navi's wings should have been soda can openers, Ganon's too awsome... Other than that, I love it...
OH! And Ganon's too awsome.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

SirPantalones In reply to T-3000 [2011-02-11 14:30:40 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, mate!
I can adress some of those problems, but then again, thanks for looking into the details ;D

1. Chain Link, from the BitF comic, is right handed! I thought several times about flipping the image of him, but decided not to, to really establish a connection between this guy and the comic one. Since his version was probably made faster than this one, he probably just happened to make him right-handed without intention
2. I'll make up for it, I promise!
3. Navi is a light emitting diode, and those naturally have legs pointing out from the bottom, so I used those as wings! Besides, there's a can opener in Zelda's torso, of a more European design: [link]
4, 5. I don't think he's awesome enough!! >

T-3000 In reply to SirPantalones [2011-02-11 18:31:52 +0000 UTC]

Well I was thinking of finding those pieces of junk and making that Ganon when I get a chance. I see a hamster ball, chains, magnets, fork, bells, cookie cutter, tuna can, whistle, fish hooks, bolts, nails... Don't know about the eyes and is the hair made of steel wool?

But yeah if I get a chance (and the stuff) I want to do that.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

SirPantalones In reply to T-3000 [2011-02-11 19:03:10 +0000 UTC]

The butt is actually supposed to be a boule ball, but otherwise, you're spot on Awesome!
The eyes are just golden links, like the eyes for Link and Zelda. I couldn't come up with something that looked enough like a couple of eyes, so I walked a safe road.
The hair is steel wool, correct!

And if you ever create it, you HAVE to take a picture and show me That would be so brilliant!
The other two are a bit impossible to create in real life, but Ganon actually seems plausible when you think about it...

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSCCCCCH you knew about it beforehand! :I Or maybe you just forgot about that and are totally clever anyway.

Maybe I should credit you for all the stuff you came up with.
Ya I'm gonna do that!

Thanks

One thing I really know this entry lacks is MOTION, which Ame-Nami handled extremely well in the last contest winning submissio. Let's say I'm excited to see what'll show up

This is such a brilliant idea. In a way the pic reminds me of '9' which has characters and monsters made out of everyday objects. I like the details and colours here.
Awesome job.

Thank you very much
I've heard some so-so comments about 9's storyline, but I've been meaning to check it out because of the beautiful art style. From what I've seen, there are some brilliant designs in there that I honestly would like to know more about.
