Description
Edgy!(Yes, I need to rest, stay away from art, try to recover. Won't happen. I edgy too.)
So... a Warforged, a Kalashtar and a Shifter decided to seek some adventure. Wait, is that a female Warforged? And is the fancily dressed glow-eye-girl really a Kalashtar?? And the Shifter is... a swashbuckler???
And whatever happend to the Changeling????
Eh? You mean no one remembers Eberron anymore? The grrrrrrreatest D&D setting after Planescape? No? Oh.

Eberron is now back in D&D!Β Did you get the new book?
What classes are they? Looks like an artificer, monk, and rogue.

Or three commoners in a disguise! Really, the classes can be whatever the viewer wants them to be.

I really think Eberron has done quite well, considering it has lasted for 2(possibly 3) consecutive versions, which i don't think any other setting aside from FR can say. FR will always be the most promoted as it is the most easily digestible.
The warforged charΒ is quite appropriate as the 5e artificer has a subclass that wields a magic gun.

Thanks. The best thing about a fantasy gun: no one can misuse it because it's all fantasy.

Maybe it's 50/50 split but most just have no time/inspiration to edit their appearance.

But seriously though, warforged all have extremely large male physiques. It gets really homogenous after a while, just seeing ANOTHER beefy male warforged. I like the change in scenery lol.

Well WarForged were originally more or less sentient golems. Golems bodies were crafted by the maker, nothing ever said they HAD to be male. In fact one sort of golem: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caryatid⦠ - were nearly always female in form. And besides, they had a female WarForged in one of the Eberron novels.

Mine would probably end up looking like an anime cat-girl maid.
Of course it would depend on my artistic talents, so who knows what she'd actually look like. Unless I could find somebody else to craft the body for me - for really cheap since I'm poor.

Well, WOTC did put out a artificer AND a mystic (psionics user) class, for 5e, so there is hope for Eberron yet

Perhaps I'm a cynic again, but I think Eberron is too unique and quirky to sell well.

There needs to be more Eberron artwork around.
Great work on the iconic characters. The kalashtar looks pretty... inspired. In both the regular and the Eberronian sense of the word...

My first thought without reading your text was: "Omg is that a kalashtar?"
I played a psionic kalashtar once and she will always be my favourite character.
So thank you for bringing back my memories!
And yes, Eberron is a fantastic world!

Yep, she's a Kalashtar indeed. She has nothing to do with the Inspired.

I love Eberron.
My only gripe is the one GM who would let me play a Warforged Artificer who had a distinctly female form.. gave up his game after one session.
My idea was that she had a vague female shape, but since she was a magic builder.. she was going to alter herself as time went on.

You can point them towards Eberron Player's Guide, pg 33.Β
" A warforged can modify its body, adding and removing limbs as necessary. A warforged feels pain only from real injury. These physical modifications allow warforged to vary in appearance as much as any other humanoids."

I really like the middle one. She's cute! Nice hair, nice sandals, nice dress color, nice eyes...
Well... the eyes... I guess I'd be a little creeped out by those blue things if I met her in real life!
I never looked at any of the Eberron materials, I shamefully admit. If you call it the second-best D&D setting after Planescape, it's gotta be GOOD.
(My second-favourite setting after Planescape is Spelljammer because seriously... magic spaceships! Please do a Spelljammer pic one day! )

JarlFrank In reply to SirTiefling [2017-05-07 16:48:17 +0000 UTC]
It's mostly like Forgotten Realms in space, with spaceships that look like galleons.
It also has Giant Space Hamsters, so when in Baldur's Gate, Minsc tells you his hamster is a miniature giant space hamster, it's a reference to that!

I'm a little disappointed that none of them are Dragonmarked. Although I suppose with a Warforged, a Changeling and a Shifter, there aren't very many Houses they could be descended from...

No, not a real Dragonmark. A tattoo. She's a rebellious Warforged.

AielloA In reply to SirTiefling [2017-05-07 14:19:57 +0000 UTC]
Ah, I see. The best kind of Warforged!
That reminds me of the time I made a Warforged Warlord in 4e named Bastion. He was designed to support allies with Guiding Shot from his wrist-mounted hand crossbow (dude was basically a Super Battle Droid) but he missed literally every time.

Nibelung2 In reply to AielloA [2017-05-05 04:06:50 +0000 UTC]
It's a bit weird to explain, but in general, each dragonmark is linked to a single race (except the Mark of Finding, that can show up in Humans and Half-Orcs), so it is fair to assume that every person with a true (ie, non-aberrant) dragonmark is from the same race that mark is linked. But there is two caveats on that assumption.Β
First, D&D 4e allowed anyone to pick any dragonmark, under the assumption that "PCs are rare by definition", and if a dragonmark is picked outside its common race, the DM is encouraged to make it matter in the story. However, a lot of people that do not play in Eberron, but had access to the official character builder, had access to those feats, and since they have no pre-requisite, embraced them as "general feats" on non-Eberron campaigns and Character Optimization.Β
Second, the dragonmarked houses are bigger than only their dragonmarked members. Think of them more like megacorps in Shadowrun, they have a vast monopoly in their area of expertise, and are not shy to put down any competition by legal (eg, buying it into the house) or illegal (eg, killing their supply) means. So, while only Humans are known to bear the Mark of Making, you can be a local dwarf smith that works for the Fabricator's Guild of House Cannith, and thus, have the right to use its seal on your shop. In exchange, your products must meet Cannith quality standards and prices (eg, EVERY longsword you sell must cot 15 gp, and deal 1d8 damage). In the same vein, you can be a gnome prospector for Tharashk, or a Tiefling detective from Medani. Just because you don't bear a dragonmark, don't mean you can't be part of the House.Β

AielloA In reply to Nibelung2 [2017-05-05 06:22:11 +0000 UTC]
First off, 4e was a great tactical fantasy tabletop RPG, but an utter shit D&D game, to the point where I personally don't consider anything introduced in 4e to be canon, at this point.
Second, just being affiliated with the House and being allowed to use their seal on your shop or whatnot doesn't give you a Dragonmark, which is what I was talking about in this specific instance.
