Description
Since I'm back in Tokyo for summer break, might as well head to Odaiba to see the much talked about 1:1 sized RX-78-2 Gundam statue. It was quite overwhelming being at the foot of such a giant although the smell of elephant poo that, for some reason, lingered in the air was just as overwhelming. Regardless, I'm sure everyone there would have loved to climb into the cockpit to satisfy their inner-Amuro if it was possible.
But man, the Gundam franchise has been around for 30 years! If only this statue could last that long. Unfortunately, they will be taking it down at the end of August.

elephant poo?
When I first saw this, I thought you took a picture of a little action figure and just used perspective in such a way that he looked like he was towering over the distant skyline.

I edit photos with Photoshop not manipulate them. If you can't make a photo look good to begin with then why falsify it?
With that said, the eyes were unfortunately not lit up so it would be hard to dodge or adjust the curve to achieve such effect.

Ii use lighting effects and other misc techniques for stuff like that all the time.
BTW thats probably the only good image of the statue ive seen
far too many showing what it looked like at nightime

Kyoto. That statue is supposed to be permanent. It'd be nice just to go to Kyoto though.

I told my friend who I went with that they should make a life-sized Evangelion as well but then she quickly let me know how GIGANTIC that would actually be. xD

to be completely honest though... when they were thinking about gundam, I think they should have had the
RX-78-2 side by side with the Exia.

There should be a statue of the many versions of Gundam in each prefecture of Japan. That would be so cool.
