Description A short animation I made to test my ability to animate with puppets. I modified the Rainboom puppets to make a Littlepip puppet, complete with her trademark Derpy-modified Stable-tec armored utility barding. I tried to get a happy medium between horse barding, the armored vault 101 suit, and animatable, I think it worked.

Enjoy!

I know this is Über-late but nice work so far and I'd like to see more if you are still working on this.

Very nice, though one tiny nitpick I must add, isn't the glow of Littlepip's magic the same dark green as a Pipboy/Pipbuck screen?

Is it? I looked on the wiki at the time and didn't see the info. Maybe.

Very nicely done!!
If I may offer a critique, the last bit where she jumps forward feels a little too rushed. There's a bit more animation needed there to complete all the steps of jumping (like a little more pullback before the jump, etc.)
Otherwise, this is an awesome piece of animation!

IKR? If the radio drama starts posting episodes, then they can get fully animated and we can have our Wasteland ponies!

One detail that no one has mentioned yet would be that the muzzle flare would work better being in front of where the pipe were before the recoil. Now it looks like she's shooting a little upwards.

Otherwise, great work!

I see what you mean, I'll pay attention to that next time I animate a gun.

Looking pretty awesome! I'm liking the edits you made to the puppet itself, and the only thing I can think of picking at is the animation itself, which could probably benefit more from using tweens and easing more often.

Still, looks great so far!

Its awesome! However I question having her get kickback from the pistol for two reasons:
1. Its in telekinesis and not on her body there would be no kickback from a floating weapon.
2. Kickback from a pistol is not as much as you would get from a rifle.

Other than that its a nice short.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

sirustalcelion In reply to ParastarSarasva [2012-12-09 22:08:35 +0000 UTC]

But it's a REALLY powerful pistol.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

ParastarSarasva In reply to sirustalcelion [2012-12-10 14:08:17 +0000 UTC]

still I doubt she would get any kick out of it transferred to her body. It would move in telekinesis, but she would remain stationary.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

sirustalcelion In reply to ParastarSarasva [2012-12-10 17:57:09 +0000 UTC]

Like I said above, the real reason is that it looks cooler. I would argue that it's partly an unconscious effect that allows her to maintain her grip on the pistol.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

MonotoneMan In reply to sirustalcelion [2012-12-09 22:20:51 +0000 UTC]

I agree. No matter how strong little Pip's telekinesis is, the kickback would be too fat to react to and it would be impractical to try to hold a rapid-fire revolver still anyway. A sniper rifle, on the other hand, could really benefit from extra telekinetic grip holding it steady.

One question though... why does Little Macintosh cause physical kickback when Littlepip isn't actually HOLDING it?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

sirustalcelion In reply to ProtoMixup [2012-12-09 22:07:42 +0000 UTC]

"Because it looks better" is the real answer. Technical mumbo: holding it in mental grasp requires a lot of concentration, and the telekinetic field has to be adapted to move with the gun, or else a unicorn would lose her grip. It's easier to do this if you just react with the kick, making the bubble move instinctually.

Liam-Shotson In reply to ProtoMixup [2012-12-09 21:20:45 +0000 UTC]

It is in a magical grasp. So in theory, it would cause recoil to the operator
