Wow! This is absolutely stunning! The detailed way you've painted the texture of the cloth, the soft sheen of her hair and the muted colour palette amount to a gorgeous piece. I've got to go check out more of your work right now.

Awww... Thank you so much lol. Yeah, the hair took a bit of trial and error. I basically lay down a mid-dark colour as the base, and then use a fairly large soft brush to establish the general direction they'll be curling. After that it's just a matter of detailing with a something like 70% opacity brush at varying sizes lol. Then to add the messiness I just a tiny hard brush to draw in the bits of flyaway hair. I used the smudge tool at some points also to get the fading even. The sharpen tool is also useful for establishing depth. Hope this helps!

Theoretically that all makes sense, but I probably need to study hair forms sometime - it's the "establish the general direction" bit that gets me every time! Never thought of using the sharpen tool for depth though, I should try that too hm.
