Description
A lonely countryroad sees some bad luck for a group of travelers. This piece was created by drawing the picture with a regular #2 pencil on a slab of birch and then burning the images into the wood with a wood burning tool (sometimes called pyrography). Color was added using oil pastels, chalk, and charcoal. This piece sold in 2003.Related content

I like the colouring of this piece. I pyrograph myself, so I know just how hard it is. ((Though admittedly, I normally pyrograph runes on the Fantasy swords that I make and sell, as I've not yet mastered pictures. *Chuckles*)) The detail you have gone to is truely admirable. I like the way you've put the sun in the picture, to me at least it does look rather realistic. I also like the use of foregrounds and backgrounds. The largest of the tree for example, almost hangs over the actual scene like a picture-frame...^^
I don't much think that you can 'improve' anything with this piece, (Impossible technically, sicne it was sold a few years back *Chuckles*) But all I'd say is keep practicing and doing more techniques. It's a shame that I can't see it any more up-close, I would have been interested in the very fine detail of it, but no matter...^^ Ah yes, and for pyrographing, I would reccomend a nice piece of mahogany. Then use some sanding polish or friction polish. Not only does it bring out the colour, but the actual 'burnt' part of it is highlighted and I personally think it looks great...^^
Many regards and best wishes;
~Sara
