it's literally been months since i last uploaded something here. dA doesn't really pull at me as much as it did once. but i think i may have a handful of watchers who might enjoy some of these oldies. also a crap ton of WIPsnaturally i'm starting out with angst.

He was already dying when you got there. Freshly stabbed by the flying psycho Jack Noir, left to choke on his own blood as he bled to death. You scream and run towards him, calling his name as he lies there, staring into space. He doesn't see you or hear you until your right over his head, crying his name. He looks startled to find you there, which confuses you because you two had agreed to meet out here, even though he was a reluctant to leave the Veil.
You pick up his body gingerly, trying not to spill any more blood, but the blood falls in torrents anyways. This was supposed to be your first meeting, and you were excited to see him in person--to see the angry energy that seeped into every letter of every word he'd ever typed to you. You expected him to snap at you, to maybe even attack you. You didn't expect him to see him like this.
Never like this.
Blood starts to spill out from his eyes, and you panic until he tells you in so many unkind words that trolls' tears are the same color as their blood. You're both quiet for a few moments...then he asks you if he's going to die.
"No," you lie, "You're going to be just fine. You just need some sleep."
He doesn't believe you and sneers half heartedly, on the verge of calling you a name, but chokes on his own blood. He coughs the blood away, and suddenly looks so tired; so sad. You hold him tightly, squeezing him a little, and you hold his head against your shoulder.
You don't know how long you stay like this, holding him while you're both crying. But after a while, he moves.
He brings his hand up and places it on yours. He whispers two words, and then his hand falls limp as all life leaves him. You cry even harder, holding him close and calling his name, even though you know he will not answer you again.
"Thank you."
