Well a wip here... Since it's my first time drawing a mermaid, struggling with colors... At first, I wanted to make the hair multi-color but didnt look really good, blue didnt really stand out. I use aquamarine eyes for most of my drawings but it didn't work quite well this time. Tried red eyes and failed. Honestly? i dont like the current hair colorSoo it's likely ill change all the colors later. Mermaid is a tricky creature to color..
btw she's not a mermaid but some sea-creature. She's too fishy to be a mermaid. lol

This is one of the most beautiful pictures I've ever seen. The colors are perfect! I wouldn't change a thing!

I like the colours that you have used, and I see that others do too. If you change the colours, please keep this one up too, it is very pretty.
I would suggest switching gears a little to a cooler scheme if you do not like the blond hair. Something more fish-like would be silver, then you could add emphases to certain parts by putting in a few, small, coloured highlights, without overwhelming the piece with a vivid rainbow. I'd change the gold elements to something closer to pearl, which is something that you can find in the water, and therefore would be more accessible to merfolk. The flame in the scepter would then also need to be changed to match. I would suggest something closer to a spirit flame, maybe in a light green.

Great work! in regards to the hair color i would say that when drawing mermaids theres not much to do about it because you usually gonna be making the fins/scales/etc green to blue and in this cases the best choice is to also make the hair green or blue or the opposite like red or purple... i honestly loved the one you chose.

The hair colour's great, so are the eyes. I love her coral inspired necklace. I want to make one for myself now!
Only critique I can come up with at this stage is that the gills? fins? ears? on her head don't seem to be merging right with her hair. Just doesn't seem finished. Not sure if this is just because it's a WIP though. Otherwise looks great. Can't wait to see the final piece.

Humm as the owner of the seconds largest mermaid image collection in the world (first is the internet) I would have to say your attempt is better than some of the other master artists that do well at drawing mermaids. I will favor her and hope you'll do more mermaid and sea-creatures and hope you'll do the rest of her body? Golden-red hair's good, blue eyes good, people have done red hair to death because of Ariel the little mermaid so kudos on being unique. I would suggest though you don't have to do it...no bra or covering over the breasts and big breasts...not because I'm some pervert that like big boobs but rather big boobs would help her buoyancy. Since people do insist on bras though I would always speak out against them when it comes to the half-animals and demons and stuff like that. If you insist then make the coverings beautiful. People tend to lean towards the plain and shells<---BOR--RING!

Maybe there is too much difference in colors between hair, face and eyes? I tried to make skin and eyes more yellow (just tested with a layer above) and I think it looks better then. Of course I cannot see if the different skin color works out for the rest of the picture that is out of zoom. I actually like the hair, considering this fish-mermaid is playing with fire.

It's a lovely piece!
But please, fix her eyes. She's looking in two different directions. It would be a shame if that disctracts from all the great detail you put in there.
