Description
Deep within the heart of Mirkwood, there lay a place unspoiled by men and Orcs. Of the Fellowship, Legolas alone knew of what the elves the 'Grove of Secrets', for it was here that their ancient mysteries were held, unseen by the other peoples of Middle-Earth. The Shadow of Sauron had haunted most of the forest but, as the Grove of Secrets was buried in the most inaccessible of places, here it remained untouched and unspoiled. In peaceful times, the elves were said to vanish within the depths of its mystical foliage. And men knew not of the rituals they committed to within its heart, or the arcane powers shining from its bowels. Legolas himself was not inclined to these secrets, for here in this pristine region he saw a place of peace and quiet. He would climb to the tops of the trees and watch the rituals from afar, and lo and behold, they would respond to him. He would strip himself of his boots and bow, lay rest on a comfortable branch, and let the trees delight him in their joy at his return. For he was elven in nature, and when nature felt at peace, then so did he.
...How much of that did I just make up?
Anyway, this is the last pic I'll post before school starts. Suffice it to say that Legolas is my favorite character of LoTR, ever. That scene where he brings down the Mumakil in Return of the King? Crowning. Moment. Of. Awesome. Right there. As you all know I have a thing for sexy guys, so really, how could I have avoided this?
For this one I thought I'd make this a full drawing with a background. I tried my best with the foliage but it's not as realistic as I would've hoped. Ah well.
