Same here. My best work always arrives when I'm feeling my worst. I think it's because our emotions are so raw that we're able to transport them to canvas, and the result is real and not forced.

Thanks! I overindulged a bit on the eyes... I could spend some time on the hands, but I decided that it wasn't really worth the time, since the focus is really on the face. You can see that I left the hair pretty sketchy as well.

I felt like painting a sad person, but I wanted it to actually look good, so I decided to use a reference, which is a stock photo from here on dA. The shading and lines are heavily referenced.
