It's not that they're not funny and well-drawn, but...why is Sam always such a jerk in them?

I just replied to you about this in another comment, but I will here too, so it doesn't bother you that much: That's simply out of my own humor style.
I am aware Sam Gamgee is a very well loved and popular character on The Lord of the Rings saga, but I always happened to like Gollum most.
That's the only true reason I have to explain why the humor is made through HIS point of view, thus making Sam occasionally look like a jerk...somehow.
Not that Gollum doesn't have hard times at them too!...And even Frodo...
There is no actual character bashing or bad pun intended at fans of any of those characters, I actually love the complete saga, though I have strong favourites most as any fan does.
It's just my personal humor about this saga, it is okay if you don't like it.
