Description
Since it's very (VERY) likely that I'll make some *cough* quite some strips involving the skeksis...(WHY NOT?) I decided to sketch in inks the face of the Chamberlain, Skeksil (my momma's favorite boy amongst them) ...He's for now only distorting his wrinkly devious face in six basic expressions...I hope I can move his face more when it comes to keep him consistent frame by frame of a comic strip...This is actually the smallest piece of paper I had (about 10 per 12 cms only)...the scanning makes it look huge!!! Hmmm...weird, there's details in it I can't even tell when I drew!...XD...Oversizing with scanners does that...yeah.
Oh well, let's see what the future brings!
AH! Of course, the disclaimer, ahem...

side note....have to admit he was the one i preferred to the others....seemed to have that bit of a soft side, even if it was only b/c he was a wuss.

Yes, I know...but then, even if he was some kind of a wuss...HE WAS SO-...I don't know...I guess there's a small group of us who would give him a hug. He would most likely be surprised by it...and possibly disgusted...but he earned it anyway! That's what you get by becoming an iconic creature!

and you are so right, I would give him a hug for sure....though yes, he'd pretend he hated it.
and what i meant by wuss was that....he seemed to be different, at least a little, though had no strength to stand up to anyone...or show that...which was sad for him b/c it puts him in that wuss department.

THAT'S the most enchanting thing about him don't you think?...The fact that one INSTINCTIVELY imagines the Chamberlain was actually a very clingy/smoochy creature, but he'd always deny his wish for a hug or some scratching on the hair he still has on his balding head!...
I always pictured him partially as some kind of "wanna-be all serious throne-pretending secretary of estate-guy" who would try his best at appearing "all smiles" though truly keeping a reserved distance to most surround him...then, also someone who would love to be addressed at with actual respect or benevolence, though would never confess that because he knows it would instantly bring him down as a weakling among his peers, and would make him loose the scarce respect some hold for him!

Ah yes...I thought he was, too!...He almost looked like he had...something still good, despite oddly twisted, within him. Though of course, whatever it was, and assuming it WAS there, he would never be able to even say it out loud, or he'd be caught for good that time when he did!...I imagine Skeksis sneer down at gentleness...and directly punish weakness. Sil would be dead the very moment he thought to express anything non-belicist! U.U

I remember loving each one of his "faces" as a kid...
Even when he was terrified and aghast after his banishment...I was like "awww poor thing...he looks so appaled!..."
I knew I HAD TO HATE HIM, the plot DEMANDED ME TO...but couldn't...DAT SAD FACE!!!....
Then every other was just as fine!...It was ALL there: smirk...sadness...joy...fake sweets...smile...surprise...anger...despondence...and so much more...!!!
I think I will soon fill a meme about expressions with him...

I don't know about real birds, they have not much muscles in their faces, so they cannot make a great range of expressions as we know them...but THESE guys could. Being puppets and having partial lips (if you look close, they have actual teeth in their beaks in the movie, and even lips behind their beaks) so they can smile, show their teeth, snarl, squeal, even get evidently frightened or sad...That's, I think, what I liked the most about them...those puppeteers made them look so alive...

HMMMMMMMmmmmm! I love these! I think you have the Chamberlain's facial expressions nailed! If I could pick my favorites, I think that bawling and surprised faces get to me the most!

Bawling looks like seconds after being completely stripped and shunned... poor "baby" XD
Then, surprised looks almost adorable to me...at some shots he looked exactly like that and I remember being all "awwwwww" where my buddies were "ewwwwww"

Oh yes. absolutely, I was at half-eating my breakfats and I just drew a piece of paper Tex-Avery style (you know, when you just get something from behind you, like a paper, an axe, a rubber hammer or an anvil, out of the blue?) and sketched these...I don't even know why I did it...just trying expression ranges I think...but now I am wanting to fill an "expressions meme" with his face...arrrrgh I wonder if I'll get to do it...

Haahaahaaa that's what I meant...He might not have been really nice but...he had me from the get going. At least he wasn't a "happy sword crazy" thing...one like...let's say the slave master or the general who would have likely split you in half happily. The Chamberlain was more of a diplomat...soooo I'm assuming it would be somehow easier to mantain a fairly kind treatment with him...unless you were a gelfling of course!

Yep...cunning thing he was...the worst thing is if I had been in his position (Oh Lawd, don't let me ever be stripped and thrown to tha streets whimpering...that would be NASTY!) I would've tried to lure the little guys too...I do feel AWFUL sorry for them though. They were cute...but hey, if it were "you or me"... ...Wanna spare you but no can do, gelfling...

He (Chamberlain) might know a little about a sword. He sure wielded a big blade when challenging the Gothirm(?) Master for the title of Emporer...(No 'diction-yrys' fer mee! My speeling surks!) anyway, darn dvd is on it's death bed, piece of ....I wanted to watch it...sniff

Now, now, Chamberlain still had a few rags covering his frame. I think those that stripped him of his robes enjoyed it to much...asses.
