I want to start studying color theory a lot more and infusing that into my work. The colorscripts from Pixar are so inspiring. <3I'm also trying a more minimalistic bg style to put more focus on the characters.Β

what kind of color theories are you going for :0 like...lighting, or shadows, or palettes, or warm vs soft colors, etc? Sunlight? Sunlight is a great thing to practice in terms of color. The colors here look good but the scene feels like it needs really dark, creepy colors and high contrast--something that feels like a dangerous, dark lab that the viewer has stumbled into. but as such, it feels like a well-lit doctor's office with a sassy bunny ready to give you your flu shot :0 Which if that was more what you were going for, that was pulled off well.

Loving the simplistic background. Not only does it add focus to the character but with good lighting (such as in this piece) it can add an air of mystique to the environment. Love it for sure.
That said, I know just as much about color theory as I do about what it's like to be a jewel wasp.

Oh wow this is gorgeous ash! The rendering on the character here is superb and the background minimalism is great, still enough detail to get that lab feel. I love the furries in the tubes. really digging this piece.
