#11: "Timmy" - Mystery Science Theater 3000

I don't think it comes as any surprise by now that I'm an avid fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000. I've watched the show since I think I was 10, somewhere around there. It's something so etched into my childhood and humor that I find myself quoting it usually without even fully realizing and I still watch it to this day, it's the most common thing I have on while working on art, as a matter of fact. I always remember the episode with "Timmy" being intriguing to me, because I never saw it when I was younger. Back when we were much younger, my brother had gotten the MST3K episode guide, for all the Comedy Central episodes. While skimming it, we read up on the episode and I always really wanted to see it. The thought of using one of the black, theater puppets as an evil twin seemed hilarious. So, why did I include something from an episode probably only known to the most die hard MSTies, such as myself?

Because Timmy was fucking terrifying! Of course, it was hilarious too and they did a great job of making an incredibly lighthearted take on something otherwise extremely dark, but that didn't mean that it wasn't also rife with terror! The fact that they actually managed to make one of the robot puppets, which were normally anything but intimidating, that out right scary was pretty impressive! Plus, the Aliens spoof at the end was pretty funny, which is why I played up the Xenomorph motif on Timmy here. I also wanted to give him the look of something that was actually organic, but imitating a machine, much like the look of Dark Samus.
