❀ History

Kitten: Splash was born to two loners, Ripple and Sage- Sage had previously lived with his family before a fox attack separated him from them and Ripple had simply been abandoned by her father out in the woods. Both coming from similar backgrounds, Sage and Ripple hit it off before then deciding to stick together to assure their chances of survival, which would later leave them to become mates in later seasons. However, both cats knew that this was no life for a kit- especially with how hard the seasons could be- but it was hard for them to let go of the little bundle of happiness they had come to love. As Splash grew, his father and mother discussed their plan to get their son a better life. Both knew of the colonies that lived not very far from where they were currently, and that any of them would be decent homes for Splash- and so they decided upon a plan: Once Splash reached his sixth moon they'd take him to live in the nearest colony.

Both found this plan to be adequate- or so it seemed. Ripple didn't want to leave her kit with strangers or even leave her kit at all. Still, Splash grew, and while Sage got ready to lead Splash to the border, Ripple was fretting and trying to hide Splash. "We can't let him grow up like this!" Sage tried to plea to his mate to let their son travel on with him but Ripple stood her ground, firm and kept him from their den with a slumbering Splash inside. "One more moon." Sage could see the tears well up in her eyes even though she stood tall as an old oak tree. "Please." He couldn't stand to hear his mate's voice like that, sad and devastated that he wanted her to let go. Sage nuzzled Ripple gently and agreed, "One more moon."

As soon as Splash's seventh moon came both were ready to take him to the border- though Ripple was still hurt by the idea of it. Sage and Ripple led Splash to an old badger's den and nuzzled their dear son slowly, "Don't leave, Splashy, okay? Someone's going to find you and take good care of you." Splash nodded as his mother and father groomed him once last time before pressing their noses to his forehead and leaving. It wasn't very long before a patrol found a smiling tom sitting in a cold den near their border who he seemed to have no understanding that he wasn't supposed to be there
