Description
"I am a knight," said William proudly. As soon as they heard that statement, the three men collapsed into a heap of laughter.
"You're joking right?" their leader asked.
"No," William replied sternly, "Now, I strongly suggest that you three back o-"
Before he could finish, the trio's leader fired his rifle. The bullet ripped straight through William's sword, splitting it in two. Shocked, and utterly distraught by what just transpired, he clutched at the two pieces while the trio continued to laugh at him. Emily then felt the urge to pound the three them into the ground when the trio's leader said to them, "Alright, now if you two don't get out of here by nightfall, I will gather all my friends, and hunt you down like the vermin you are."
The trio then departed.
Emily looked down at the sad little man, and scooped him off his feet.
"Come on," she said, "Let's get out of here."

This is a request Ryan made for his story. It's unfinished but maybe you can all bug him to finish it.
A knight is on a quest for the King to retrieve his daughter. But he's in for a big surprise when he finds her. Even though this is a fantasy setting, it takes place historically between the decline of the full armor knight and the rise of guns on the battlefield. It gives it an interesting spin as the modern overtakes older fantasy tropes.

Read the story, and you'll find out.

For the record, it's part of what I hope will become a series of short stories that will follow these characters. The problem is that I'm still trying to figure out what the second story will be about. I know that I want it to involve them bonding a little more, and building the world I created, but I'm stuck. And I think I need help.

No excuses.
Seriously though, after they get out of the valley I image they would stop and rest somewhere. They would probably take that opportunity share a little back story, maybe not everything, but something. After that I guess they would need to find some "lodging" for the princess for the night, and pick a destination the next day. But that's just one logical framework I see the story going. You have other ideas I'm sure.

That's not a bad idea to be honest. My original idea was a little more grandiose, because there are so many things I want to introduce in these stories. But I like your idea, I'll start writing it tomorrow, and I think it would be great if you'd help me flesh this world out.
