AI've recently learned that this site's agreements are shady - if not predatory. If you take a good look at href="www.deviantart.com/submit/agre… ">these terms and conditions, especially number 2, 3, and 4, what it essentially says is that dA retains the right to give your art away, royalty-free, I found out about this, please share it to as many people as you can!!!!!

Hi. Thanks for the like!! As for the license agreement... This seems to be typical legalese to allow them to redistribute content placed on the DA site or official subdivisions, etc., for marketing, promotion, technical systems admin, etc., without having to pay the artist a specific royalty for moving artists content around or repackaging it. Sounds scary but... They "cannot" however, per the terms sell, re-distribute, or compile artworks or content, etc., and pass it along to "third parties outside of DA's realm" for any commercial use beyond DA marking, promotion and administration "without" formal consent of the artist to do so. It's always good to keep companies or services like DA "in check" but it's generally the price we pay in exchange for DA hosting our stuff. It's not in DAs best interest to mess with the user community and play games because it would ultimately lead to a very bad time for DA. Bottom line the artist retains his/her rights to their content but agree to let DA do their promotional / marketing thing "within" the terms of the agreement. But if things "were" to go crazy for some odd reason and it got too sticky to deal with DA then I guess an artist would have to pull ALL their content and leave DA. ...and then sue. But as they say, so far so good.
Thanks again!
