I love doing these anyway, but this time it was actually for my character design class. We were allowed to use any character, and so of course I went with the greatest OC of all time: myself. Literally in the outfit I was wearing the day I sketched these out. (My teacher agreed that I'm hilarious).

The guidelines and what I did with them are as follows:

1) 3D-based. I loved American Girl dolls growing up, so after the teacher told me I wasn't allowed to go with my initial idea, Coraline (apparently that's "not different enough"), I thought of these guys. A TON of detail was lost zoomed out in this combined image, but that's. Probably for the best. This one actually kind of scared me as I worked on it in PS, not gonna lie.

2) Actually the teacher wanted us to avoid animation/cartoons, which is kind of all I did the last time I attempted something like this, but I showed him the Scandanavia and the World webcomics and he agreed that that was different enough from my own style. Also Humon is great. If you haven't seen her work on here go do that, like, right now.

3) Historical/cultural. My teacher kept suggesting things that were REALLY HARD to turn myself into - Bali masks, Inuit statues??? I compromised on Egyptian wall art.

4) My actual style as a starting point. More or less. Mine changes a lot anyway, but he doesn't know that. This is how I've been doing a lot of the Tiger Chronicles though.
