Physical Description: Chryses is for the most part an evenly spread mix of both of his parents. He has thick, short, dark fur with the insides of his rosettes looking like fading gold. He has a light colored face, toes, tail tip, and ear spot. He has orange cheek spots and orange ‘speckles’ spread randomly around his body.

Personality

Determined - Focused - Loyal - Confident/Arrogant - Extreme

Chryses is a very, very determined cat. He knows how to go forward to get what he wants and isn’t very easily told to back off. He can be very focused, sometimes to a fault as he can forget the needs of others around him and even his own needs sometimes. He keeps his emotions tucked tight to his chest and doesn’t let others in very easily. Despite this, he is loyal to a fault to those he has let in, having no problem rushing headfirst to ‘fix’ a problem they are facing. He bounces from one extreme to the other, seemingly not knowing how to chill and go with the flow. He can be very intense and often needs reminding to slow down and pace himself. Chryses has a hard time regulating emotions, often going from one extreme to the other without realizing it.

History

Chryses was born as the accidental breeding between two cats when a mix up occurred as the wrong male was brought to breed with his mother. He was born as the only cub in the litter, his unique markings surprising his mother’s owners immensely. Originally unhappy with the mix up, his new owners were ecstatic to have such a uniquely marked cat to include in their program. His owners decided to keep him, thinking they could breed him to other ocelots and eventually remove the margay genes, while hopefully keeping the mutation his coat expressed so vividly. Their decision to keep him cause issue with the people who had agreed to take on the originally unwanted mixed litter.

Chryses was raised mainly by his owners, seeing his mother when he needed to nurse or rarely in the evenings when he was put up for the night. His owners hope was that by doing so he would imprint to them more than other cats, but unbeknownst to them Chryses began to develop a deep resentment for being kept so far away from his mother. His owners assumed his stubbornness and defiance was due to the margay blood running in his genes. Once old enough to no longer be dependent on his mother Chryses was taken to live directly with his owners. Threats had been made against his owners for keeping him rather than following through on their promise to give him up and his owners thought that keeping him close to them would ensure no harm came to the little cub.

Everything came to a head one night when his owners home was simultaneously broken into and set on fire. In the chaos and struggle that ensued, Chryses managed to escape his cage. Free of a leash, human, or cage for the first time in his life, the hybrid took off. He managed to escape the smoke, flames, and violence through a window. The second his paws hit the ground he took off, not sparing a fourth of a second to look back. Anger coursed through Chryses as he ran. He vowed that he would come back to find and free his mother once he was big enough to do so.
