Marvelous Ladies of Oz - Nelebel

So a few days ago, I read L. Frank Baum's short story called Nelebel's Fairyland. In this tale, the titular fairy princess is exiled from the forest of Burzee by Queen Lulea for reasons not fully given. It sounds like she may have just been flirty. If so, that's a dumb reason for her to be exiled.

So anyway, she's exiled to a barren beach in what would become California. The nooks, rhyls, and gigans who were sent to guard her try to create a new fairy land for her in this location. Baum uses this as an origin story for Coronado and claims the spirit of Nelebel cam still be felt there, long after her exile was lifted and she returned to Burzee.

I liked this story and have decided Nelebel would probably love Oz if she were to go there. So there's a new story idea. Nelebel in Oz could be next after From Oz to Noom. ❤️
