It's actually not so bad. Though I think it's clear there's still a different feel to the artwork itself, definitely because like you said this was your first proper use of the surface. With time you'll probably find your groove with it. But hey, not a bad first go for the surface!
By the way, you seem to draw a lot of Splatoon Inklings. I take it that Splatoon must have captured your creativity, huh?

I could see why. There's this allure to it, admittedly. I do love the designs of the Inklings as they've been going into Splatoon 2, though I do love the idea behind the species in total. Turning into squids and the like? I'll admit, that'd be a cool ability to have!
I think one of the bigger additions for me with Splatoon 2 would be the extra hair styles for the guys. I'm not a ponytail or manbun fan, you know? So it's cool to see they're giving the Inkinling's tentacles new styles. I also love the Neon colour choices for the advertising too! I have no clue why, but it just makes it feel more striking and stylish.

yess, i love all the lore and story they put behind it, even with the focus being on multiplayer. and yeah, i agree -- i think new hairstyles was one of the biggest must-haves for splatoon 2, so i'm glad we got them!! i'm definitely going to enjoy swapping between all of them every minute of my life.
and neon colors is indeed a good idea. it just sticks with people~~

Oh! I also love their sort of outdated pop inspired culture too (I think it's pop anyways)! It makes them kinda endearing in a lot of ways seeing them walk around wearing a style of clothing thats really similar to human culture, which I believe is part of the story that they were inspired by our own.
I mostly think it's charming because I can tell it's a style of fashion that's not the most 'in' thing today, but I could definitely tell that it probably would have been at some point.
EvenΒ Callie and Marie's catchphrase of 'Stay Fresh!' as kinda off as it is, it just feels really charming too in some way.
