Dakota (d uh - K OH - t uh) - In search of the world's colors.

Dakota is a shiny 'Alolan' Vulpix; his fur is mostly white with light, pastel-like purple markings rather than icy blue. Marking-wise, the only major differences between Dakota and other Alolan Vulpix are his smaller sock-like markings around his feet, covering only his toes on all four limbs. He also has a crescent-shaped mark on his chest. For being from such a tall mountain, he has pretty short fur -- it seems most of it has grown into his tails rather than his coat. His tails are so fluffy, it is incredibly difficult to distinguish the six separate appendages. He is a bit on the shorter side for a typical Vulpix, although he definitely doesn't let that hinder him in battle. His eye color is similar to the markings of his fur, although a little more vibrant; a bright purple accented with an icy blue.

Dakota, as his nature would describe in a single word, is very serious. He takes whatever he does very seriously, and typically has a no funny business kind of attitude. He is a realist to the point of almost pessimism, and his bluntness makes him unafraid to share his opinion. Dakota's not very quick to anger, but not entirely stoic either. When he does get angry, he's quite vicious, but doesn't go into a blind rage. He's also got a sense of loyalty about him that he will protect his loved ones at any cost, although it's quite difficult for him to consider much of anyone a "loved one". Including his teammate.

Dakota's birthplace was Glory's Peak, a mountain in the far north of the continent. He is a purebreed, meaning that both of his parents (and as far as he knows, most if not all of his ancestors as well) were Alolan Ninetales. His life growing up was relatively normal, almost to the point of isolation. He was never allowed to leave the mountains while he was under his parents' authority, leading to his desire to leave home and see the world and all of its colors once he was out of their grasp. Much to their dismay, he said his goodbyes early morning one day, and headed off with nothing but a small satchel of essential items and his own determination. On his way to Tabira, (which he'd heard about during his early travels), he came across Lixue, and offered to bring her with him for just a little while. However, that little while turned into a partnership he can't seem to get himself out of.

Lixue (lee-shwee) - A long way from home.

Lixue is an optimistic, emotionally-driven Amaura; a small, dinosaur-like Pokémon with a pink-tipped membrane on the top of her small head. Her leather-like skin is misty blue in color and her stomach has a white diamond shape on the underside. This little green-eyed explorer also boasts a long neck, short stubby tail, and a blue gem on either side of her body. Whenever her emotions change, it is very clearly displayed within the thin membranes on her head by a colour change; they become blue whenever she is asleep or relaxed, green when excited or overjoyed, orange when angry, bright pink when embarrassed or stressed, and white when light-headed.

Lixue was born in Xin Tou, a remote village far to the east of the continent. She lived a great portion of her life in a small house there with her mother Meixiu (Aurorus) and her father Leo (Ampharos), where they ran a small family business making decorative sculptures out of NeverMeltIce. While her mother was considered a sculptress, her father was an explorer. He would travel from pillar to post around the continent in search of, well, whatever he wanted to search for. He was a real thrill-seeker. As well as teaching Lixue a number of 'self-defense' combat skills, such as discharge, her father taught her about the geography of the land. He would tell her stories about the sights he'd seen on his explorations and feed her young curiosity. And he inspired her dream of exploration greatly.

Of course, like most dreams, it was out of her reach. Her father would not allow her to go on any of his explorations; claiming it to be 'too dangerous' for a little Amaura. So, she would stay at home and continue to learn to sculpt from her mother, in the hope that she would continue the family business one day.

Or perhaps not. On the morning of one of Leo's explorations Lixue followed her father out of the house to a trade cart she thought he would be travelling from. She climbed aboard and hid amongst the trade in the back, waiting patiently for the ride to begin. He would have to let her stay and explore with him if she was already there, right? The perfect plan! Or so she thought. After riding with the cargo for what seemed like days to her, the cart came to a sudden halt. They had stopped in small village surrounded by an odd pink mist, a nearby sign reading 'Fableton'. She leapt from the cart to greet her father at its front, only to find he was nowhere in sight. She asked the drivers where her father was, but they claimed no Ampharos came along on this trade route. Angered at the stowaway, and not returning to Xin Tou anytime soon, the tradesmen departed and left the little Amaura in Fableton, telling her she 'wasn't their problem'. She would go on to spend hours flinging herself this way and that to try and find help, and eventually run into (more like over) a small, white fox Pokémon that she didn't recognise. And all she would be able to do was beg for his help.
