Description Might as well use my DA for something...

~

Tiamat the Druddigon
Age: Young Adult
Nature: Careful, very finicky
Moves: Smack Down, Dig, Dragon Claw, Sucker Punch

Tiamat is a tentative, almost hesitant individual, and often needs time to think over any potentially important decisions that are presented to her. This can give her the appearance of a procrastinator, though she’s in fact a very meticulous pokemon, with a particular eye for presentation. However, this combination of traits sometimes leads her into difficulties, as she can lose her direction while fussing over something until the very last minute. She often needs outside influence to remain focused. She has been known to lose sleep, should she become particularly invested in something.
In spite of her somewhat neurotic traits however, she’s a quiet, placid individual. While usually hesitant to enter battle, she is a competent individual when it comes to fighting. She’s aware she’s not built for speed, instead using her bulk to hold out and then draw opponents in, before striking at close range.

Ive (pronounced as ‘Eve’) the Snorunt
Age: Young adult
Nature: Quirky, impetuous and silly
Moves: Ice Beam, Protect, Double Team, Spikes

A jolly and energetic Snorunt, Ive can come across as manic to those meeting her for the first time. She’s not put off by size or appearance, and happily approaches anyone should circumstances require (or not). Though she has a tendency to goof off and play around, she knows when to be serious (her version of it anyway). She also, strangely enough, is able to keep things fairly simple, often providing odd, but relative insight to the current situation.
Ive doesn’t hesitate should fighting be required. She’s fast, though lacks strength at close range, preferring to fight at a distance. Her main tactics are to use speed combined with her attacks to confound her foes, keeping them distracted and distanced with field hazards.

Prior to M8:
Both Tiamat and Ive have known each other since they were younger, sharing a mutual interest in trade. Ive often made regular trips from Snowy Village to Tiamat’s home (obviously below the range of snow and frost) and the pair spent their time swapping items with both each other and anyone willing who happened to cross their paths.
One day, Ive visted Tiamat with the news that in a village called Tao, there were a number of guilds, one of which with a focus on Merchants. Ive was very interested in the guild, stating she would like to travel to Tao and join them, and then asking if the Druddigon wanted to accompany her.
In true cautious fashion however, Tiamat was hesitant to simply pack up and head to the village, stating she wanted to think about it first. Ive was irked by the response however, not wanting to waste time.
However, knowing the Druddigon liked to consider things first, she gave her space, bringing up the subject whenever she came to visit. At one point, it seemed Ive would recieve an answer, though it was at this point a strange bout of cold weather came across the area (a result of the Sorbet incident) and causing Tiamat to withdraw into her cave. This eventually passed however and Ive continued to ask whether Tiamat had made her mind up. Each time, Tiamat stated she was still considering the journey.
Finally, Ive grew fed up and stated she was going to Tao to join the guild, whether Tiamat wanted to join her or not. The Snorunt discarded the scarf she was wearing the in process (something the pair had acquired together on their first bout of item swapping) and proceeded towards Tao.
Tiamat was hurt by the event, remaining in her cave for a few days following. However, thinking over things once again, she finally realized she’d been intimidated by the idea of leaving her home, which had now grown less pleasant since Ive no longer came to visit.
Finally deciding to go after her friend, Tiamat proceeded to Tao herself, taking the scarf with her, planning to make amends.

As of Mission 8:
Ive was drawn into the incident with Jasmine while approaching Tao Village, and is currently one of the pokemon missing.
Tiamat arrived at Tao some time after and discovered Ive was one of the many who had gone missing. Not wanting to be discouraged, she resolved to wait in Tao, hoping the Snorunt would find her way back with the other missing villagers and team-members.

Aw thank-you so much! It took a while to work Tiamat out, so that's really sweet to hear ;u;

Ahh, how I love seeing uncommon Pokes in the group! Kudos to you for not only using a Druddigon (a female at that!), but also for making her look fabulous! I put a Skarmory in my team simply because Skarmory seem to be the most unloved Pokes in the Mystery Dungeon series (They fight one in the show as well as one in the games- that's just mean!)

Aw, thank-you so much! I wanted to go with uncommon and something I liked for my team, Druddigon (and Snorunt) fit both of those while also looking like an interesting pair c: And getting all the nice feedback on Tia's appearance is really flattering (took me a while to be happy with how she looked.) So thank you again!
And really? I think Skarmory is super cool! I think I spent a number of hours trying to capture one in the original Gold and Silver games, haha. A Joltik and Skarmory duo is a pretty awesome Team combo btw.

I played Crystal when I was like 8 years old. It would have been a very different experience had I known about Skarmory XD From a competitive standpoint, Skarm really is one of the best Pokes around, even more so in 2nd gen when there were like, 5 steel types.
There were actually 2 reasons as to why I used a Joltik and Skarmory on the same team. The first is their relative scarcity in the group, as we said.
The second, though, is something a bit more complex. When thinking about which Pokes to use, I had a funny idea: How much of a size difference can I make between the two? I looked around and saw that Joltik was the smallest Pokemon (only 4 inches!) After that, I thought, "Okay, now what is the largest unevolved Pokemon that I like?" I kid you not, it took a while for me to figure this out. Suddenly, I remembered Skarmory, that poor bird who was beaten up in both the Mystery Dungeon show and games. Realizing that I actually liked Skarmory, I decided to include one.
Here's where I started testing my limits: the personalities! Seeing that Skarmory were often portrayed as antagonistic and fearsome in the show, I decided to do something special with mine. I gave her a timid and skittish personality, but also made her shiny and much larger than the average Skarmory. So here we have a girl whose dark past resulted in her shyness and lack of confidence, and just wants to hide in the shadows but sticks out like a sore thumb. I gave the Joltik a brighter backstory and a calm persona to form a sort of strange balance between the two.
Sorry for the wall of text. I hope I'm not coming off as geeky or anything; I'm still new here...

You've really put a lot of thought out your team members dynamic with each other, in more ways than one! I think that's really creative.
And no problem! I'm pretty new to PMDE myself-but I really like hearing about a characters development and the like, so thank-you very much for sharing! c:
I think the main thing with my own team is that, while Tiamat and Ive are radically different from each other at first glance, they're good friends regardless because they recognize these differences, and use them to try and balance out their own personal shortcomings.
So using their friendship to learn and help each other and themselves, in short.
And so sorry about the late reply-I've been swamped the last week!

Heehee, thanks! When I saw the "we will be harsh and unforgiving" rule of the Chatot rank, my first thought was "Oh really, huh?" and I decided to take a stab at it, test myself and such.
Character interaction, backstory, and mono/dialogue are the main focuses in my work. It's personally fun for me to think of the different scenarios and how they would go about performing them. It's also fun to analyze the ways other people make their characters too!
The late reply is fine, I've been there before (just got back from an AP Calculus Exam...)

You have a good standard of work then! It's all important stuff to think about
I'm trying to improve my own art-I can make some things look good, but I am not so great with deadlines/ pushing myself. So hopefully this group will help.
And wow-my brain was fuzzy after regular math, I can't imagine how it'd be after a calculus exam. Well done!

I'm terrible with deadlines. The task I'm working on now (Commerce) is admittedly the longest I'll do, but it's still taking me longer than I would've liked. Writing is fun, IF I can force myself to sit down and write.
The exam was admittedly not that bad. It was 3 hours and 45 minutes, but I've found that passes quickly when you're focusing on the questions.

SketchprinterDemon In reply to DuskyDusky [2013-05-12 04:19:24 +0000 UTC]

I'm setting myself a little challenge with the May Tasks, I want to complete as many as I can in a certain format.
I hope your writing goes well, I'm sure you can do it!
And forcing yourself to do something isn't too bad a mentality, though I think being able to enjoy what you're doing is also important. But I guess getting into the habit will hopefully lead to that.

Wow, I think the longest any of my exams were were 3 hours, and those were English exams. But time does seem to fly when you're trying to finish a paper.

I plan on doing three tasks this time (Commerce, Barty's Bluff and Toy Shopping). Already thought up the general scenarios for each one, but Commerce is going to be a very long work.

My main problem with writing is just my inherent laziness. It's really fun to write... if I actually sit down and write. Occasionally I get writer's block on parts of scenes and just doze off trying to think of a good quote or adjective.

Oh, and in regards to your note (just in case you didn't receive the one I sent), of course you can cameo them! As a writer, I enjoy seeing visuals of my characters, just to see how others envision them.

I think it's admirable that you'd be willing to take the challenge of drawing a Druddigon in the first place. I'm just a writer, but I know enough to infer that drawing one can be quite difficult, what with all of the details!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SketchprinterDemon In reply to RebelliousElite99 [2013-04-14 15:23:49 +0000 UTC]

Aw, thanks so much! Druddigon I think actually has a rather weird design. To the point it works? That sounds odd, haha. But I think the wings, head and belly head are the hardest parts, I ended up stylizing them quite a bit. I can't even think how you'd describe them in writing, that'd be a challenge as well!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RebelliousElite99 In reply to SketchprinterDemon [2013-04-15 02:01:58 +0000 UTC]

Well, it's Japanese; don't question it.

I noticed the stylization, and honestly, I think it makes Tiamat look more feminine. Now that's truely an accomplishment, representing a masculine dragon like Druddingon as a female!

Now that you mention it, it would be hard to describe in writing...

SketchprinterDemon In reply to RebelliousElite99 [2013-04-15 13:16:55 +0000 UTC]

Haha, true that.
And that's really nice of you to say, thank-you again ;//u//;
I can only think of red and spiky for description, that or 'it looks kinda like the dragon on the welsh flag, if that dragon was an anime' :'D
